Rumours abound that Matt Southall is now involved in an attempted purchase of Birmingham City.

Southall unlawfully changing Company House records, which led to a fine of £21,000, now a further £5,000 fine for his latest cock-up. Couldn't run a bath.

The EFL are showing just how weak they are by not giving these type of people life bans...

"The league has accepted that Maxco’s breaches of the ODT rules were “non intentional” or “concealed”, which explains why the penalties are so lenient. Even in Southall’s case the sanction is little more than a slap on the wrist as his three-month ban will start immediately, making him eligible for work in the football industry again this summer."

Hmmm. "Non intentional " gets a 6 month ban, but "I forgot" merits 2 years.

Speaks volumes.

Interesting to see on Twitter that the supporters who put together the excellent Charlton Dossier are calling for the supporters trusts of all 3 clubs (themselves, ourselves & Birmingham) to jointly lobby the EFL with the help of local MPs regarding Southall's ridiculous "punishment".

There can be no doubt that Southall learned a bit from his experiences here working with Bottomley, Curran and Jarvis whilst seeking to take a 25% stake in the club.

In our situation, there was an actual transfer of shares - by numerous parties sold to Morton House and the sellers included David Bottomley and Graham Rawlinson (as openly reported by the EFL).

As far as I can tell, no shares in Birmingham have actually changed hands so there is no breach of those rules and Birmingham are just guilty of allowing people that have not followed the administration processes of the EFL to the letter.

You can't just appoint any person to a position of authority of an EFL club.

The fact that David Bottomley was banned for 2 years for his role in the Rochdale disciplinary and Matthew Southall for just six months (three of those suspended) for his role in the Birmingham "agreed decision" shows how seriously the EFL took the actions of the former CEO in allowing such a severe breach of EFL rules.

I am sure Matthew Southall will be back around involved in football in due course but the EFL are watching and demonstrating that they are watching in all respects.

I'm afraid that's nonsense

The fact that Southall was anywhere near another EFL club whilst not following EFL admin requirements after his suspension should have the EFL taking the most stringent action possible, a life ban

There was an infamous threat by Southall to have a High Court action to stop a legitimate RAFC EGM which didn't suit him. It was lies through and through. The fake threat was just that, fake, - BS - no High Court action ever happened. The EGM went ahead and shareholders voted in favour of the resolutions. FU Southall. He forgets people save and screenshot such things. All adds to the evidence for the 3 fans organisations to stop this charlatan who should be nowhere near football, ever.

He was so poor as a shoplifter he got caught. He's not got any better.

EFL life ban? On accumulated evidence from three member clubs, it is beyond reasonable doubt.

It's a pity that we as a club haven't learned anything from these experiences. The Chairman and Directors have decided off their own bat to once again open the door to outside investors and that also means the likes of Morton House/ Southall etc..there are loads of sharks circling around out there, these aren't the only ones. No consultation with the shareholders/ Trust/supporters should never have been allowed to happen, i'm still waiting for a explanation on that one but it's a question that nobody seems to want to answer. The Chairman is sometimes in the Dale Bar before games and is approachable, if he's there on Saturday i will ask him the question in person and I urge others to do so if they get the opportunity.

You can only do so much due dilligence on people and once they get their foot in the door their whole persona can change. They can be acting on behalf of people who lurk in the shadows, or they can then sell their stake in the club to whoever offers them the highest bid. There will be nothing the fans can do then. The police force is now awash with bad eggs, criminals who pulled the wool over peoples eyes and found their way in, if it can happen in the police it can certainly happen at our club. There will be no protection from the EFL if we are relegated, look what's happened to Scunthorpe.

It seems a bit rich when we have posters on here taking the moral high ground regarding the likes of Southall etc, when as a club we have decided to open ourselves up to the same dangers we've been fighting to avoid during the last two years. There's a certain hypocrisy to it all to be honest.

The whole club is now in limbo and so are the fans. The unity we had just a few months ago is no longer there and we wait patiently to see who will waltz through the doors and decide what they are going to do with their club..it will be their club if they are investing a lot of money into it, make no mistake about that. As fans we will just have to suck it up, that's the route that those in the Boardroom and 90% of Trust members prefer though. The members were finally balloted on line a few weeks after the investor decision was announced and most preferred the investor route. Who knows how the shareholders and the other supporters think, not even a ballot for them.

Good to see others doing some plain speaking, rather than playing games on here

It's not a game, it's cost us

Literally, it's cost us in our pockets

It's cost us on the pitch, with the rubbish we've had to watch most of this season and last

And almost certainly, it'll cost us our status as a football league club

Southall has learned nothing. He'll try it on again, and the EFL will let him. It's not a game

That’s exactly how I feel about where we are. For me there were warning signs with SGs dig at fans in what i regard as the “Infamous” early Jan chairman’s statement which broke the looking for an investor decision, casually announced - and made unilaterally by the board.

We are being asked to trust the new board, but the lack of fan involvement in their thought process is concerning. Up the Dale not for sale hasn’t aged well has it. Trust is wearing thin now.

The decision clearly caught the Trust with their pants down and has undermined their credibility.

Actions will now speak louder than words - but we fans/ trust members/ shareholders- need to remain on our guard and I’ll be sceptical until actions convince me otherwise.
