I do want to see Hornets enjoy a successful season but that's definitely in spite of some involved with the club.
FWIW I think Hornets should concentrate on developing young talent in partnership with Mayfield, as opposed to collecting 'names'. Nothing wrong with experience but Hornets are experience-heavy in my book. There's certainly enough potential talent knocking about, Matty Ashton being a prime example. Somehow, he slipped through both Rochdale clubs' clutches, ending up with Swinton and then Warrington.
When you're surviving on sub-900 crowds, it's surely common sense that you'd look at a sustainable model which generated revenue (via sales), as opposed to spending money you don't have chasing a brighter tomorrow? |  |

I'd never been on that board before, but just went and had a quick look. Clearly there is animosity towards us from them but, playing devils advocate, if a neutral read that board and this one I think they'd say it was about the same from both sides.
One thing that did stand out though..
'The club is operating a sustainable budget and any player spend outside of the budget is supported by generous sponsors and the board.'
Is that even allowed? & if it is surely its not sustainable. Essentially they have a budget, but are happy to go above the budget being casually bankrolled by individuals. Seems a very strange operating model. |  | | |

We do know that once the Stadium was bought back by the football club and the lease agreement for Hornets was agreed in 2016, concerns about the structure of the deal were vehemently raised at an AGM by former Directors. Why was this? Length of lease? Rental amount? Cost increase escalator not included?
The last P&L made available to football club shareholders came with the 2019 accounts and below is a selection of stadium-related expenditures:
Rates & Water - £80k
Insurance - £25k
Light & Heat - £86.5k
Pitch maintenance - £81k
Stadium maintenance - £60.5K
The above adds up to £330,000 and we have all seen what costs have risen more recently.
What would be a fair rent in contributing to some of the above essential costs?
What do Hornets actually pay?

I'm still unclear as to what the Rochdale Hornets are trying to achieve with their continued sniping - "The Hornet" and "Rochdale Glory" being relatively new posters and lack of profile in the town.
Indeed the scheduling of Rochdale Hornets games in direct competition with Rochdale Mayfield is at best naive management and at worst hostile to a community club known for a warm welcome. If you are pitching your games against Rochdale Mayfield that makes no sense at all.
It will be interesting to see how many get to Spotland on Saturday for the Doncaster game. Certainly on gates of less than 400 they must be struggling financially now to be sustainable and after this weekend have no home game until towards the end of July, thus no income.
Hornets did announce earlier that they are moving offices due to "inspections and essential maintenance":

I probably have more Dale friends than Hornets friends, I have never slagged off the football club, I go and watch them both whenever I can but would not consider myself a full time fan of either..refer back to my posts, the only whinge I had was when I was charged more for a pint at Rugby than I was at a Football match and simply wanted the ground restrictions sorted out, not an unreasonable request. Neither of us know what is going on. with regards to these restrictions. .but it is about time the situation was sorted out. I doubt that Rochdale Glory is Andy Mazey, I honestly think without his contribution Hornets would not exist today, make of that what you will....the tit for tat bitching on both clubs sites is unnecessary and counter productive, I hope it stops | | | |
