They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

oh dear.

for what its worth, I never actually had anything against Hornets... frustration in the past? yes, but I'd always like to see them do well. However, Mazey's approach (& my suspicions about him posting on here and other places) lead to a growing dislike for them. Having read the articles shared above, it probably shouldn't be a surprise.

I’m the same re Hornets. My dad was a big RL fan back in the day.
Think the dislike is for Mazey and how he conducts himself both
with (apparently) his dealings with Dale and certainly his high
opinion of himself on social media

The wheels look like they are properly coming off.

Today was the chance to have a crack at achieving a home playoff game and that chance is now lost.

The way the playoffs are rigged in Rugby League the one-off fixture you must finish 2nd or 3rd to have a chance of a bit of rest and not have to play in the first bit which is a bit of a lottery as a one-off game.

The next three games for Hornets are real tests against Hunslet, Midlands Hurricanes and Oldham.

Those three sides will see their game against Hornets as a chance for a scalp given the way Mazey has talked them up.

It does call into question the Dad's Army strategy on recruitment. The peak age in Rugby League is 27-31 and some of Hornets players are not even in the right decade on that metric!

No home game until end of July; money problems; a secret move to Balderstone planned and Mazey now hiding.

It's getting to the stage where Rochdale Glory will be taking his old lady up Blackpool permanently, rather than watching Mazey's Hornets.

He certainly does. What kind of chairman stands with the coaching team at the dugout whilst a game is taking place and doesn’t think it’s a bit odd? Even Stewie wasn’t that bad and he loved his picture being taken more than most.

I was chatting to a Hornets supporting acquaintance this afternoon, and his view was that there is a growing 'what if' feeling amongst some of the older Hornets fanbase.

What if... all of these expensive loans are part of a shit or bust strategy? If they are promoted this year its fine, if they are not - what happens?

What if... Mazey & co choose to walk away if they don't go up this year? a £20 buy in to the board, plus potentially tax deductable payments for expensive signings, wouldn't be hard to walk away from?

What if... there is a plan to rebrand the club on the sly? Hornets to bees isn't a huge step, & Andy has been liking 'fan art' from the 'barmy army' which shows positive Hornets sentiment in a black, yellow and white striped colour scheme.

What if... there is truth in the rumour that the 'non public commenting' about issues with the Spotland tenancy is part of a wider plan to set the scene for a move away from the COA?

there were a few more points he raised, but they were the most poignant ones based on similarities to this thread. it sounds like there is a growing disconnect between the older fans of Hornets and this new co - that could explain the dwindling attendances too. away from the public bluster of the Mazey persona, you have to question if its all getting a bit tense now.

I’d be a bit suspicious of any new logo featuring something looking like a bee given that insect’s emotional connection to the city of Manchester these days.

Note the absence of any mention of Rochdale in the ‘artwork’.

Rob and Caz obviously know how to please Mazey and his cronies.

We have been there before….the cooperative ownership tried to drop the town from the club name but the rest of the world wansnt fooled and Rochdale Hornets remained.

Mazey is all in here.

He failed at Leigh and was drummed out.... He failed at Swinton and was drummed out....

Where does Andy Mazey go if he fails with Rochdale Hornets? A freely acquired club with, in his own words, a ground fit for Super League.

As he said himself, the target audience is 200,000.

What price (North) Manchester Hornets or (North) Manchester Bees playing at Spotland in 2023? And the narrative will be "We can't carry on as Rochdale Hornets..."

Let's just wait and see.

The new logos look very much like the worker bee of Manchester brought to the fore after the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017.

Where are the Rochdale Hornets fans who should be fighting the nonsense that's coming from the current regime?

They've either deserted the club or they're blowing smoke up Mazey's rectum

You'd think with the events at Dale over the past 12-15 months, there'd be a bit more than a few murmurings of discontent. Expect quite a few are throwing their arms up in the air with a "what can we do?" attitude

We've shown them what can be done, but then we're only the AFC and god forbid they take their cues from Dale fans. Instead, they treat our warnings with disdain. They're bloody fools; it's becoming perfectly clear where all this is going

I remain a fan of Rochdale Hornets (albeit at a distance these days) but i wish the club and team nothing but well. It belongs to our town and its sporting history. Take the "Rochdale" away and they can go f*ck themselves

Sadly they have no power. Dale were saved from oblivion by the shareholders. There are no shareholding Hornets fans. mazey and his mates bought the club for 20 quid each and hold all the shares. Even el presidente in London ‘bought’ into the deal,

Very obviously DA, it is controlled decline.

We witnessed a controlled relegation in 2021 before the events of last Summer. Weaken the club, tee it up for the main plan and then walk away.

If you are standing in the dugout at Swinton as the Chairman, it is suddenly obvious who picks the team, who is behind all of the decisions and who is leading the decline.

If you look online tonight:
* There is nothing from the media of the club on the game
* There is nothing on the internet in any way shape or form reporting the game.
* The observations from Hornets fans on their forums is that a rat is being smelt and questions around injuries and signings are being asked.
* A number of the Hornets squad were at Rochdale Mayfield yesterday - and approachable and open with fans.
* "The Hornet" is conspicuous by their absence.

It's all well and good being in the changing room banging the drum when Hornets win, but Big Doug had it right quoting Delia:

To be fair there is a full match report on the Hornets website. These reports may be produced 'centrally' because they tend to appear on both clubs website around the same time - though I havent checked Swinton's site. Also they dont tend to be full of 'tub thumping' and present a reasonably balanced report of the game.

It will be more than tragic if Mazey not only takes Hornets down, but takes mayfield down as well. They are a great club who spend lots of time, energy and money on developing juniors. A credit to the town and to the game of Rugby League.

Hands off Mazey.

If you meant this, this is a propaganda statement, not a match report

The defeat is Hornets’ third in Betfred League 1, all of which have come against the three teams currently above them in the division.

Isn't that how league tables usually work?

Rochdale’s ascendency didn’t last long though

Hornets were never ahead in the game.

Coming into the game, there was nothing to separate the two sides in the table

Conveniently forgetting points difference there.

They way it's going, there may be more at Rochdale Mayfield that Rochdale Hornets soon. Much better welcome, a decent pint and winning rugby.

True, but just supposing Morton House had managed to get their slimy hands on a majority shareholding at Dale. Would that have resulted in mere murmurings from us lot? I dread to think what kind of noise and disturbance would've resulted

Instead... next to nothing. If the hitherto Hornets faithful can't be bothered, it becomes a fait accompli

No doubt Mazey looked at the demographic and saw nothing but opportunity, having failed elsewhere; but then, Bottomley & MH made that mistake with us. The "managed decline" aspect referred to by RAFCBLUE wouldn't have put us off, just made us more determined. Why not Hornets fans?

No, the league table is based on points gained not who you beat to get them.

Many of the teams in the division have either beaten a team above them and/or lost to a team below them.

While I share your concern with the way the Hornets club is being run I think you are going a bit over the top with the criticism of the match report. It doesnt say they were ever in the lead and your argument about points difference is a bit picky - they were level on points.

Incidentally I dont think nthey are done centrally, a report of a previous game was posted on the opposition's website word for word, but I now think that was just opportunism, not policy and practice.

I know you like a conspiracy theory RAFC_BLUE but i think you are getting ahead of yourself on that one.
There is a lot of 2+2 adding up going on here with some answers being correct at 4, some close with 5, and some wildly off thd mark with 163.
What would be good is if the Hornets Board answered their own fans questions and concerns first and maybe chuck in a couple statements to deny or confirm some of things mentioned in this thread.
If nothing else Mazey and his Co Directors owe that much to the Hornets fans
