Hornets on Sunday 19:31 - Feb 24 with 260840 viewsEllDale

They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

I would be more worried about where you are going to get a team from for next season if i were you kel.

Why’s that half pint? Did you miss us signing another player today? Surely not with the time you spend on here.

You going to answer the 2900 main stand capacity question yet or avoid it? Again.

You must be on drugs if you really believe that The Dale won't have a team for the coming season, either that or totally thick. Big Doug, more like Big plonker! At least the majority of our squad will be our own players and those on loan will be here for a decent amount of time.

That post by BigDoug is just about the dumbest we've seen on here for quite some time, and there's a fair amount of competition in that regard

Nah dont really need a team, we're going to rely on ridiculously expensive 2 week loans instead all season, that should do the trick just fine Dougie baby

I think Dougie’s breast high jeans have limited the blood supply to what limited brain cells he has. Not the sharpest this lad.

This is what the wee man stated:

I asked him on June 10th, "This individual reckons the main stand could hold 2,900 fans. What is the capacity of that stand, wee man?"

He's been back on here since then and still no answer. There was me thinking he was the font of all knowledge. We know the answer. He doesn't. He does make himself look an implausible nob. Or so.

A poster on the hornets site now saying they dont need promotion ……reorganisation into two leagues of 10 wont be based on playing record but on what they do in the community!

If it goes to 2 x 10 then 17 teams will be gone.

Preparing for the inevitable?

It gets more like Giggle lane every day.

Bit deluded that.
There are 12 teams in Super League so that only leaves another eight spots and I can't see Hornets sneaking one of those looking at some of the clubs in the championship.

The wheels look like they are properly coming off.

Today was the chance to have a crack at achieving a home playoff game and that chance is now lost.

The way the playoffs are rigged in Rugby League the one-off fixture you must finish 2nd or 3rd to have a chance of a bit of rest and not have to play in the first bit which is a bit of a lottery as a one-off game.

The next three games for Hornets are real tests against Hunslet, Midlands Hurricanes and Oldham.

Those three sides will see their game against Hornets as a chance for a scalp given the way Mazey has talked them up.

It does call into question the Dad's Army strategy on recruitment. The peak age in Rugby League is 27-31 and some of Hornets players are not even in the right decade on that metric!

No home game until end of July; money problems; a secret move to Balderstone planned and Mazey now hiding.

It's getting to the stage where Rochdale Glory will be taking his old lady up Blackpool permanently, rather than watching Mazey's Hornets.

1029 at Swinton….almost like Swinton have gone from strength to strength since Mazey set them free.

What a crowd like that would do for hornets. In our dreams.

Apart from the fact that they're restricted to 920 spectators.
Or 970, there even seems to be confusion about that.

I think there will always be friction between Swinton Lions and Mazey for a long time given what he tried to pull there.

They are rightly slow to forget nearly being turned into the Manchester Lions and Mazey's expensive Range Rover was lifted from a car park as a result of that.

The interesting one will come at the end of July when Swinton play at Hornets. By that stage of the season the results will matter and Swinton will be chasing Keighley as well as wanting a good a league position as they can muster and to stick another one on their former chairman / owner.

Looks like some clarity has been given.

London Skolars — Sunday 24 July.

The anticipated crowd is likely to be under 920 and therefore we will only operate half a main stand. Fans are welcome to join us in the lounge for refreshments, as normal, and we look forward to welcoming all fans. The turnstiles will be open from 2pm.

Swinton Lions - Sunday 31 July.

Following extensive discussions with RAFC, the capacity of the main stand will be reinstated to its capacity of 1600. Both Turnstiles 1-3 and 4-6 will be open with the relevant turnstile printed on your ticket. We are aiming to fill the main stand and as its likely to be a busy game, we remind all fans to buy online.

I was half thinking of bumping this thread myself on the basis that it will be interesting to see how many actually turn up this Sunday against one of the worst supported teams in the RFL on the same weekend that schools break up for summer.
Hornets winning form has continued on the road but whether or not those results will be reflected in bums on seats remains to be seen.

And the following game v Swinton free tickets are available forjunior teams with the entire main stand open. I understand whats behind the initiative but for a promotion clash with a local rival every free ticket issued could be at the cost of a paid seat.

It seems they dont believe they can attract 1600 for such a high profile local derby.

Andy The Hornet is suggesting that legal action against RAFC is imminent. Grabs some popcorn and wait for this to kick off

I love his interaction on the comparison with Oldham. Talk about blowing your own

Someone needs to tell Mazey about the dangers of sunburn/skin cancer and need for some factor 50 in hot weather.

We've heard "threats" of legal action, "law of the land" stuff from implausible gobshiters / chancers before that has come to naff all within the last 12 months or so.

I doubt "keyboard warrior" "The Hornet" is any different.

As you were.

Somebody should tell Andy, sorry RochdaleGlory, sorry The Hornet, that this statement is factually incorrect:

"It’s pretty clear however that having been forced to accept Hornets do have a valid lease and aren’t going anywhere RAFC have subsequently chosen to create maximum distribution and damage to Hornets operation and business, a 151 year old Rochdale business and community club which is shameful."

The 'business' he refers to is actually 25 months old ( https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12673168 )... it takes some doing to be wrong by one hundred and forty eight and a half years!

I'd argue that these bits are bordering on libel, too, and IF Hornets are taking legal action against RAFC (and especially IF it is proven that RochdaleGlory is linked formally to Hornets somehow) they could easily be used as part of Dale's defence:

"Until such time the club can officially comment we should trust the club to work through and handle a difficult and hostile situation created entirely by RAFC change of Chairman / board privately and professionally. Hopefully we find a sustainable and viable way forward. "

"RAFC have subsequently chosen to create maximum distribution (sic - I guess he means disruption) and damage to Hornets operation and business"

"Very sad times and I don’t think Hornets are the only ones falling foul of the current RAFC dictatorship."
