They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

I know that's why I said sarcastically he "would love to help Mazey" and didn't even mention Hornets

Well it looks as though the status quo has been maintained between the Championship and League One under the proposals put forward today.
The main recommendation is a return to franchising for Super League clubs which won't affect Hornets.
What I can't find anywhere is a mention of changes to central funding to professional clubs so presumably the Super League clubs will continue to take the lion's share of SKY monies.

Bit harsh on Swinton that.

Poll: What is it to be then?

There’s been a lot of comment about the low attendance last night and how poorly the game was promoted by the RFL.
Perhaps it wouldn’t have been the massive extravaganza that was originally envisaged.

Looked like an awful crowd for a hyped international warmup and a real shame for Fiji to be trounced by an England side.

The RFL gave the game away free in the end via the Rugby League app as no TV station (either free to air or pay TV would touch it ) which doesn’t help maximising attendance ticket revenue.

https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/england-v-fiji-live-stream-252

It also confirms what both Rochdale clubs said about a lack of commercial viability which was ultimately proven.

Someone will have borne a big financial loss from the hosting of last night’s fixture and it does question the economic viability of the whole of rugby league if the RFL can’t get that right on the eve of World Cup on home soil.

Its such a shame that after Steve Kerr's (surprising but appreciated) olive branch a few weeks ago, Mazey is reigniting the tensions on social media. A cynical person might think he is making noise to distract from something else.

Someone might want to check his blood pressure - looks a bit high...

Even when there is no rugby now until 2023, Mazey seeks his weekly attention hit from antagonising Dale and Dale fans on Twitter.

Desperate stuff.

He’d be better lobbying the RFL for some funding and some profile given League 1 is going to be cut adrift in a year’s time.

Andy Mazey quoted in “League Express” today:

“Due to ongoing issues with our landlord we are now facing major challenges off the field, which include, but are not limited to, vastly increased costs and reduced income, which continue to damage our business and relationships with our customer base”.

And in that article does he have the honesty to say what his expenditure with the landlord is each year so that other clubs that compete with Hornets can see how much they are at a competitive advantage. I have never had an issue with Hornets sharing the ground and I hope they do well, but this constant whinging about costs and revenues from a stadium they had to give up ownership of is tiresome. He wouldn't like it if Simon G issued a statement about the debts that Hornets left the stadium company when they went under and how the club needed to take out a mortgage to cover that cost. He doesn't understand that because he wasn't there and hasn't done his due diligence before he paid his £10 to buy them.

Which translates into:

"We have spent way in excess of our income over the past two seasons and I've now run out of money. We will need to live within our means for 2023 but hope that we do okay. I will try and use media to embarrass the football club into a bigger subsidy to help our cause"

To be fair he’s pretty good at the piss up thing. Just ask Swinton fans.

If he doesn't like the cost of the less than peppercorn rent Hornets have to pay to the landlord, and he won't pay for office or shop space, he should move them somewhere cheaper to balance the books. If they can't afford life at the COA, they might as well pack up because they won't find anywhere cheaper.

Your problem, Mazey, not the landlords.
1
Hornets on Sunday on 10:29 - Oct 17 with 2953 viewsEllDale

To compound issues with his budget he's lost Keighley and Swinton from his fixture list due to promotion. They brought far more away support to the COA in 2022 than their replacements, Workington Town and Dewsbury, will bring next season.
