Hornets on Sunday 19:31 - Feb 24 with 267941 viewsEllDale

They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

About 500 there.

Biggest news of the day is that the Hornets CEO has apparently handed in his notice.

If only we knew of an available CEO fan of 50 years who knows the law of the land and never, ever, gets his or her employer into regulatory-body mither.

Drove past the ground earlier & saw a car charging on the new EV points… only 1 but money for the Dale 👍

Perhaps he may have left anyway but Rangi Chase, Hornet’s playmaker last year, has today been banned after testing positive for cocaine after a game last September.

Who'd have thought it, some form for all that carry on has old Rangi, like offering out fans for a fight on social media, classy as ever.

Sure Mr chairman will be just as "transparent" with it all as usual though.

Rangi in Maori means Sky. So you could say he is just chasing the sky by getting high.

Don't understand some forum members obsession with trying to bring Rangi Chase down......like they've got a vendetta against the bloke. Also the crowd numbers they get at their games. It's not as if the exploits of Jonny Diba and Dale's decreasing attendances appear on the Hornets forum!!! :(

To be fair , i think Rangi himself has done a good enough job of bringing himself down unfortunately.

A shame because he was without doubt a talented Rugby player at one point.

I am interested in Hornets attendances in the same way I am our own. The decline is a worry for the sustainability of the stadium and either sport in the town. It should be of interest to us all.

Chase is an absurdly talented player but as broken as any toy you will ever find.

As for hornets I’m an avid follower of RL and would have been a perfect target for them, however, for years it’s never been their fault, arrogant chairman, rumoured financial irregularities (the safe break on in the early 80’s where they lost 20k yeah right) leaching off the football club and generally being pricks means I hope they go bust or sod off as soon as possible.

They have been a non entity for years and bailed out by so many sources (definitely not through the use of an positions or influence over the council obviously) should share with Mayfield although they probably don’t want them either!

Well Judd, the only one I could think of that met your description had previously professed himself a 'lifelong Dale fan' and as such probably excluded himself from the post.

Looking that job load I’d like to see the salary.
Most clubs separate the admin role from that of the commercial one.
Really big workload.

I can't imagine that it is right. Looks like Mazey has placed it on the website after his post match Gins yesterday. He has told fans it is likely to be a part time role moving forward (one hell of a job profile for part time though) and I wonder whether he meant to say £15,000 to £20,000.

"Hornet's" ? Really? Looks like it was posted after a few Gins given such an unnecessary apostrophe.

From 5th April 2023:

“ This guy till recently was taking a nice little earner out of Rochdale Hornets Foundation. He’s now exploiting information, and targeting our partners while sniping constantly using the likes of Mayfield’s and other social media accounts to back slap himself #pathetic”

Since January 2023:

1) Peter Smith and Richard Heyes left Hornets as Directors in February 2023

2) The long-standing CEO resigned and left in March 2023

3) Andy Mazey has now called out on Twitter a long-standing community member in Carl Abraham who last year ran the Rochdale Hornets wheelchair rugby stating he was “taking a nice little earner”:
https://hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1040/hornets-wheelchair-team-recruiting

4) The established sides have all comfortably turned over Hornets whilst Mayfield, which is littered with ex-Hornets from last season had a good Challenge Cup run and go from strength to strength this season.
