Wouldn't it be the case that once someone has 90% control they would be able to pass this motion without any problem anyway if so inclined?

Personally I see the value in the audits. However I think that was a pointless motion. We either move on with new owners in which case the cost of an audit is hopefully not an issue or alternatively we can't play on Saturday and go bust, in which case what is there to audit going forward?

Yes, had it carried today I suspect that it would have been changed at the next AGM once the new owners had (at least 90%). My view is that audits are for stakeholders as well as shareholders and an entity that engages with its community has a moral duty to publish audited accounts.

Considering the potential investors visiting on Saturday might it be sensible to have a positive, upbeat, welcoming atmosphere without any toxicity. The folk from the US might not know the full story and chants berating a board member who put over half a million pounds of his own money into the club to keep it going might make them reconsider investing.

There seems to be a groundswell of resistance against SG and this is something that the Chairman has brought on himself through recent comments and interviews with the football media. These have been uncompromising, and I would be very surprised if the investors were not already aware of this and will certainly have a full briefing of this evenings meeting.

I am pleased that the vote was positive because the implications of an alternative outcome would have been catastrophic for the club whether Saturday's game proceeded or not.

We are not yet out of the woods and the hard work starts now. SG should lay low out of the public eye for a while and think about Mr Morris's question in relation to how he backs away and negotiates re-payment 'in a non hostile' way.

A comment was made earlier in this thread that Rochdale AFC should be run by Rochdalians. As an Exile, I would only partially agree, and think that as in any organisation we should appoint the best people possible irrespective of their place of birth.

As the home of co-operation maybe the Club/ Trust can devise a new version of a fan based model with the investors whoever they may be. They will surely recognise that it makes good business sense.

I gave my proxy to the Trust and in the survey reluctantly voted in favour of all motions apart from the audit one. I left it as late as possible before leaving for the Barnet game in case something else came up.

I am not impressed at the chairman's remarks mentioned above.

I hope both the club and Trust boards put every effort into getting the golden share idea into discussions with investors. That would give me some comfort for voting away my say.

We now have to hope that the investors are genuine and professional.

Could someone please elaborate on what SG said about postponing Saturdays game?

Also earlier in the thread some mentioned a second LOI has gone in, was this confirmed at the EGM?

The Co-op angle could indeed be a USP, and i'd expect new owners with a broader outlook to make more of it than our own townsfolk have over the years

The potential is there, for the right people. Maybe they won't have the "little Rochdale" mentality that's dragged us down all this time. Keith Hill tried to break us free of it, and succeeded for a while

If we're about anything, it's about being able to dust ourselves down and move on again. None of this - either the full sense of Dale history or the future potential - has been within the grasp of our current board, temporary custodians whilst Dale floundered in the aftermath of Bottomley and Covid

We voted for a future tonight, and the future belongs to the fans, whoever has their name on a seat in the boardroom

Would it be down to the board to choose or shareholders? If it’s down to the board, this whole night should’ve been postponed given the fact that another LOI was presented to the board today.

This is a very salient point. Should there be two, four, eight Letters Of Intent issued by potential investors, who decides which investor should be chosen? Given the 9million shares aren't yet issued, is it the board who decides or the current shareholders?
Definitely one for the lawyers. The chap I know who is vastly experienced in such matters reckons it should be down to the current shareholders to choose from those presented.

We were told by this board of directors that potential investors would be introduced to shareholders. We'll see if we were lied to or not. It would be unwise at best for the current board to proceed a sale or issue 9million 'A' shares off their own bat to whoever they choose without legal advice as to their powers to do so.

Agreed we need to give the Americans a good impression and get the deal over the line.

If Simon was issuing threats and I do not know in what context they were meant, was it to call off Saturdays game, which could imply beginning the process of Liquidation, then I find his actions despicable. Hopefully as stated we can be taken over and a fresh start for the club can be begin.

I wouldn't fly on any plane he was piloting...he has a history of only taking things down.

Let's face our good times have always been under the leadership of rochdale folk. It's outsiders who have caused us problems.

And for the first time in our history they can publish what they want as accounts...no longer any stamp of approval as to their accuracy.

Rich boys play thing from this day forward.

If resolutions 1-4 hadn't been passed, SG threatened to pull the plug on the Oxford game

[Post edited 7 Mar 21:25]

SG should have been there and then that he is only the chair of the FAN owed club and is not the owner......

The meeting should have been stopped with a show of hands and another show ofhands to remove him....

The supporters of Rochdale AFC deserve more and SG holds has a dislike for them except their money.

For him to say that if the it is not passed on the 7th of march there will be a possibility of liquidation.
Really.
Sounded like he just wanted his money returned above all else.
Does the next 3 home matches in March not produce income!
And the last 4 home matches in April not produce income.

At what period at the EGM did SG state that hewould stop the Oxford game before the vote or after.

Didn't the two directors - SG and the other chap - state that they weren't looking to get their money back. The other chap said if he got it back all well and good but was prepared to write it off.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

The intimation was that there are people we owe money to who are prepared to wait for payment if a new owner is on the cards i.e. the votes were passed. Had they not been passed they could have moved against the club today to put it into liquidation, hence putting the game on Saturday in doubt. Its what happens when you dont have any cash.. home games add very little cash these days as most supporters have already bought their season tickets, and visiting clubs don't bring many fans.

Its illegal to continue trading when you know you dont have the money to pay your bills.

I think if I had spent as much as Simon has trying to keep the club afloat, I would be entitled to deliver some home truths to the shareholders. There are much bigger clubs than Rochdale losing money every week and being supported by wealthy individuals , but none of them will continue to put their hands in their pockets forever, eventually they will stop .. see Accrington for details.

And don't imagine that anyone buying Rochdale this month will arrive with unlimited funds, they won't. Its time for the sniping at the Board to stop. We are where we are. If you want to blame someone, look at the EFL who made us play for a season and a bit with no crowds. Look at Bottomley who re-layed the pitch and put in electronic turnstiles and then tried to sell the club to Morton House....you can only play the cards you are dealt, todays board tried to play with half a deck and, no surprise, they couldnt win. Its time to move on and look forwards.

Desperate men do desperate things, sounds like the pressure of all this has well and truly got to him.
My bet is that we will be like a Grouse on the 12th of August open game for anyone.
I suspect we will see every shyster and his dog turning up with a LOI
We’ve nowhere to hide now.

Indeed.

What does an 85% majority mean? The club cannot even get that right.

85% of shareholders votes cast were in favour? Well that's not an 85% majority because 15% voted against.

Let's hope when we get rid of the board they take with them some of the administrative team.

You know what it means. That's why you're spitting your dummy out.

There are hundreds of things you could have a go at SG, the BoD, the club, about but you're just being an arse on this one.

Up to your usual name calling.

You can't engage in a discussion in a civil manner can you.

Since when was calling someone an arse in line with the rules of posting.

Does nobody moderate this site any more.

I do apologise. I should be more civilised and only name call in the direction if the BoD, joke about plane crashes and encourage fans to create an uncomfortable atmosphere when potential investors are present. And that’s just the last day or so.
