Some overreacted when he returned to the side last season and struggled at first. Some kept calm and saw the bigger picture. That’s football fans everywhere for you.

Patience is a virtue whether it’s passing it amongst the defence as some Ole/groan, or if it’s giving people time to improve and implement a process that is visibly developing over time.

Another alternative of course is to sign loads of strikers and hope for unsustainable, undeserved promotion parties at Tranmere that could destroy a club.

He has had a pre season and looks really fit. So difficult to come back from a serious injury and be fighting fit.

wasnt eels a player you all wanted rid off not long ago??

Not me roberto.

We were miserly last season in defence until Eels got his injury, he is our leader, our captain and a fantastic defender. We missed him then and he is awesome now.

To be fair, he got injured in the 5th game of the season, although yes, we had only conceded twice.

… including one at York. It was his mistake!

Yup. With him i reckon we could have got 3rd last season and lost to Southend in the semis instead of quarters.

What about the fa trophy?

Eels was an unused sub in our exit in the semis last year.

This is the first time we've won the first six league games of a calendar year.

We won five in 1947, 1962 and, erm, 2026.

I'm not a maestro, far from it, but I just engage my brain before posting.

We have eight seasons in our entire history when we’ve won 50% or more of our league games.

We’re guaranteed to have done that for a ninth time with 18 games still to play.

I was impressed with our set pieces today.
In tight games this can make a difference and so it proved.
EEL is a real warrior. Commands our half of the pitch in every respect.
Some great cameos yet again. Pritchard is a real asset from the bench as is Pettit and Hosannah looked sharp when he came on.
And Hendo was a real goal threat when the game opened up.
It shows that even when opposing teams contain the right hand flank then this team can find other ways and means to score.
Great atmosphere too. Not too much moaning and some real vocal support.

Superb Delivery by Barlow for the winner. Mani just misses the header, but the ball lands at the far post for a smack-in.

What a time to be a Dale fan.
Jim and staff have got a team spirit, squad, and desire that is up there if not beyond Hill/Croft at its best. All credit to them.
They also are astute tactically, something that has been missing for a while.
The players bust a gut for the club every single game and are as good to watch as I've seen in my 50+ years as a Dale fan.
Was it 73/74 we won 2 games out of 46? This season we've won 23 of 28 so far which is beyond astonishing.
The fans all round the ground believe. The Sandy has a sing and does its traditional best to back the lads, but U Block do the hard graft so well, game in game out. What we've needed for years. Hats off to them for their tenacity and energy. Brilliant work. It's appreciated by the players and gives results.
We have majority owners who are beyond what we could ever have expected. Thank you so much.

Only saw the highlights...looked like an attritional battle with few goal mouth incidents

Glad to hear there was no obvious anxiety on or off the pitch.

Did listen on Radio Cumbria...what an odd pair them two are!!

It did destroy a club…

Bury are no more.

The Phoenix have done well though and thrown up enough smoke and mirrors to attract the sleepwalkers back.

The win was heartening….. a double home and away win against a big player in the National League. Three goals scored over the 3 games and two clean sheets.

Winning is everything obviously… it does hide a multitude of sins.

The game itself was a terrible watch, pedestrian with more misplaced passes that I can remember for a long time. Mani D struggled all game with the ball not sticking and his lay offs when he had the chance either under or overhit.

Perry and Gordon also a bit off the pace. A complete reversal from Tuesday night v Boreham Wood.

There is an obvious plan to put wins on the board obsessively so really can’t be too critical as it’s working. 23 wins from 28 is astonishing as mentioned. When you play Southend - Boreham Wood and then Carlisle in succession and rattle off 3 wins it really is dreamland.

With 18 games remaining and York equally relentless it might mean we need 13/14 wins from 18 to finish 1st. This could end up as Wrexham v Notts County Mk2.

Give Carlisle the credit they deserve, they came with a plan to stifle us and it worked for a majority of the game. Carlisle have to some good players and it showed in the way the never gave us time on the ball and it did help that we passed the ball across the defence, whilst seeking a gap to open us the Carlisle team, which slowed the game.

As somebody else as mentioned, I cannot think of Whatmuff having a shot to save.

It may not have be the best game to watch, but a win is a win.

Agree with this. It was an awful game because of the Carlisle set up, but they nullified us completely. Each of our usual outlets were blocked off.

As expected, the goal opened things up slightly and we were unfortunate not to extend the lead

You could really see the well-drilled part of our game others talk about.

EEL passes to Perry, Barlow turns and runs.
Perry passes back to EEL.
EEL passes to Gordon, Rodney turns and runs.
Gordon passes back to EEL.
And repeat.

They did well not to 'bite' on the olé's and start playing them long balls.

I think if Hendo's chance goes in we are talking about a brilliant performance against a really tough opponent. Instead its just a gritty win in a must win game.
Onwards to Wednesday. Savage talked after the game about their players being out on their feet at the end yesterday - hopefully gives us another
slight advantage.

Just watched the York/FGR match on DAZN. I think our game on Wednesday will be completely different from yesterday. FGR won't do a Carlisle that's for sure. They employed a press against York throughout and tried to play at high tempo. It will be interesting to see how that game has affected them though because at the end a few of them looked out on their feet. If they follow the same pattern on Wednesday I don't think we will be talking about it being a dull game. Hopefully, we can out stay them and keep our run going.

Plus Robbie Savage has said on more than 1 occasion that he got it wrong when we played them at Forest Green. He said they changed their usual tactics and tried to sit off us - they will definitely go for us more on Wednesday.

On a different note who was it that slid in to dive a header out for a corner to Carlisle and stop a certain goal, was it Moss towards the Pearl St? One of the bravest headers ive seen for a long long time as it looked like he was going to crash into the post too

A very good listen this week. The first 20 mins is about Dale and York. Although for some reason the Carlisle fan thinks Moss headed his goal in! 🤔
