It's looking like I'll be spending my next birthday in Mansfield. Lucky me.

August looks a big challenge - after recently in L1 Hartlepool, Burton away, well fancied Chesterfield home, then away at Plymouth and Oxford. But if Dale get off to a good start, maybe September will offer more: bury and Torquay at home, Accy away, then home to Wycombe.

Last game away at Newport

I wonder if Dale fans will be ducking and diving from missiles like the last time we played them on the last day of that fixture.

No way I'll be able to get back on a Tuesday night for the home game so looking into flight prices from Newcastle for the away one as we speak...

Tangled up in blue.

Yeah I was quite concerning after the final whistle went as we had nowhere to hid, also remember all the programme collectors just coming through the turnstiles buying shed loads of programmes and leaving again.

Poll: Would we have a stronger management team with Flicker back ?

I came in through the home turnstiles to see if they had anything to buy in the club shop (they didn't). I do remember outsidce the turnstiles that there were a number of people complaining that they had to go into the ground to buy programmes and being told by Newport officials that that was because programmes were for people attending the game so they had to pay the admission fee. I think I got a couple of programmes rather than my usual one. Some other Dale fans I know had bought more than one as well, but only on behalf of Dale fans who could not get to the game.

After I pointed out to one of the stewards that I was a Rochdale fan he kindly walked my round the pitch from the main stand and let me in to the away end. I have to say I do not remember any problems walking back to the railway station after the game, but I did not have anything on me which I identified me obviously as a Dale fan.

Hopefully there won't be problems getting tickets for the Newport away game. As it is the last game something might be riding on it. Not sure how big their new away section is.

3 home fixtures on Tuesday and 1 away I think. Always get lower than average gates on Tuesdays

Big game of Portsmouth at home is also on a Tuesday. Probably 500 will come up instead of 3000 for a Saturday (assuming they are doing well). We always got Bradford at home on Tuesday's as well which cost us tens of thousands.

That fixture computer has it in for our revenue stream.

Manchester to Portsmouth going early Friday returning late Saturday evening with megabus is 22£ each way - and could probably find cheaper fares

Gutted torquay away is on a Tuesday

Tough Start -

H Harlepool ex lg1
A Burton - last year play off
H Chesterfield - pre season favourites
A Plymouth - guns blazing this coming season - long away day
A Oxford - Tough place to go and not a happy hunting ground recently.

Throw in a trip to Donny and its fair to say we will have an idea how well the lads will compete / or not? by the end of August.

6 very tough fixtures on paper.

Glad the game is played on grass so - Up the dale - let Hilly get them fitter and more organised and lets give the start to the season a real go...

Up the Dale.

6 weeks to get them well drilled.

7 (seven) friendlies arranged for Hilly to get a good idea. bury on the other hand have errr no friendlies arranged - difficult I suppose without a full team

Poll: So who do you believe - Hendo or the Board?

Highlights for me are Portsmouth away on my Birthday weekend. Definitely having that and also Newport County last game. York City away on a Saturday makes up for last year.

Only downsides really for me are Torquay being on a Tuesday night and the first derby game being at home.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

Funny you mention that about first derby game at home. If we are in with a shout I would much rather have the excitement of going to giggle later on. What does everyone else prefer?

Days like this one weren't supposed to happen to Rochdale.

Either or for me as long as we win them both!!

Home first fine. We should be gelled together then after 7 x friendlies and 6 competitive games.

It could have been a lot worse on August 3rd!!

Good set of fixtures I think, start at home and a couple of home games over the Christmas period.

Two Saturday fixtures against bury will appease some also.
