Oxford City v Dale in the league is a reality check. In my not very illustrious playing career I’ve played on the pitch next to City at Cutteslowe when they reformed and then my Saturday club got kicked off Court Farm pitch one to make way for the “new” development at Court Farm.
I know somebody associated with City who is quite worried about the financial implications of playing in the National League.
Anyway it should be a good day out, the ground better located than the Kassam, which I, like many United fans, hate. |

Celebrating with an Imperial Stout, 9.6% abv. Underworld from Little Ox Brewery. Great stuff, was saving it for the next win, then decide next goal. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I’ve only got one bottle for the double! |

Thanks, I was a student in Scotland at the time, had flatmate who lived in Whitley Bay, and the timing worked with the mid term break. Met up with another Dale regular who was at Newcastle Uni, so the 3 of us. I don’t recall any other Dale fans on the terraces, just a few and I mean a few in the stand. |

I was at the Darlo v Dale, 4-4 on Tuesday evening, 28th October 1980, (looked that bit up). Not much Dale support that night! I can’t remember the score sequence. Can anyone help? We raced into the lead, not sure whether it was 0-2 or 0-3 before the inevitable come back and I think we salvage a draw with a late equaliser? |

Funny how people get hold of the wrong end of the stick. The ”valid point” was an attempt to be reasonable and not adversarial. The risk/benefit is clearly in favour of vaccination to any reasonable person. But we should question the data, may be that’s the wrong phrase, examine the data is perhaps better. The scientists and clinicians that developed the vaccines will be and that’s how we get better vaccines. |

Okay you score a small point over my laziness in checking data. The total number of deaths reported in the last 7-days to 7th January 2021 is 4,996, where a person had tested positive for covid-19 within the last 28-days. Happy with that? Versus zero deaths attributed to 1,296,432 people vaccinated. Can you see the merit in that? |

You make a valid point about the shift in balance of risk/benefit as the demographic changes. And the vaccines are being rolled out so that those most at risk get the vaccine first. That has the consequence of more safety data, over more time before the less at risk get vaccinated. The temporary / emergency use authorisation requires monitoring of the vaccinations for adverse events. In effect a phase 4 clinical trial. To my knowledge (in the public domain) there have been no enduring serious adverse events from the vaccinations, so far. With millions given globally. Whereas yesterday more than a 1000 people died in the UK alone, after testing positive for covid within 28 days. We should always monitor and question the data, a bit like questioning the manager and board at RAFC, and that is why second and third generation drugs/vaccines are made that are safer/more efficacious. Right now, the data favours vaccination with the current products but if the data changes, a change of mind is in order. |

It's great this game might go ahead but. If we lose, we drop into the relegation zone of the ppg table as well as the official table come Saturday evening. Not a good place with the continuation of the season in the balance. We need a point as a minimum. Crewe are unbeaten in 5. I'd take the covers off again!!! |

The science in this instance (covid vaccine trials) is fixed. It's the interpretation and representation/misrepresentation of data that is disputed. Here's a (there are several official versions) US authorisation fact sheet:

In a large clinical trial it's not unusual to have scary adverse events but you have to keep them in context. The administration of drugs and vaccines is not risk free. But there are benefits. The regulators assess the risk/benefit. And approve or reject. They don't have an agenda.
The efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine is really really good and I am sure exceeded their expectations and surprised. The Oxford/AZ vaccine is really good. My money would have been on the GSK/Sanofi vaccine, but it was pulled when the data didn't look good and is being reformulated. So much for my opinion, best leave it to the regulators with all the data. [Post edited 5 Jan 2021 17:10]

It makes you want to scream, weep and scream again at the ways we find to lose games. But one observation over comments already made. Ainsworth won that. About 15 minutes from the end, Matheson misplaced a pass and he called one of his subs over and immediate put him on and put him on Matheson. It was that sub that was brought down by a tiring 17 year old in the 94th minute on a heavy pitch. |

I need to get this off my chest. We were terrible today. And there should be expletives in that statement. If BBM isn't privately livid with his players, he isn't the man for the job. He needs to come up into the stand and watch the number of opportunities that were not taken to attack the opposition. Who were a bang average non-league team. Too many players wouldn't take any responsibility to attack. We won't score again this season if that display is repeated.
It was verging on being embarrassing to be a Dale fan today. Something I thought was behind us.

Just back! First, Oxford were good. We were poor. 3-0 flattered us. Once Henderson wasn't playing we were in trouble, just like Wimbledon, the last game I went to! We were completely toothless up front. As the stat, zero on-target attempts suggests.
Red card. Once the ref gave a free-kick it was red. Foot over the ball, clear from the away stand. That's what happens when you ask a 40 year old to chase the ball.
For me, Camps was the biggest disappointment, again. He spent the entire game behind oxford players, either hiding, sorry not showing, or unsuccessfully chasing them. The advanced role doesn't seem to work.
And why we continue to try to pass out from goal kicks when the opposition has clearly worked it out is beyond me.
Starting the second half with 9 nine men was embarrassing.
Bad day again at oxford, that's 3 years in a row. Its becoming a habit. Move on

Despite notices to the contrary, the A34 appears to be open this morning with no roadworks. I'd like to say enjoy the extra time in Oxford, but the Kassam is not a place to be enjoyed, especially in the wind and rain |
