| Forum Thread | Champions league final interested? at 22:08 1 Jun 2024
Personally I have not watched a complete one of these for quite some time. This year with no British interest I am even less likely to pop down the boozer to watch it. 2018 was the last with Bale scoring two v Liverpool. I watched Real v Athletico with Bale in his prime. |
| Forum Thread | Is home grown talent flourishing? If not why not? at 17:41 1 Jun 2024
Cullen, Ollie Cooper, Congreve, Cotterill, Ben Lloyd, Josh Thomas. Joe Thomas and Kai Ludvigsen released. Govea and Sam Parker fast tracked past them. Lissah and Abdullai brought in by Marc Allen look the part. These local guys have been on the books from early teens and some lack the basis. Are just kept on just to populate the u21 team. All under contract and none, as far as i can see, improving ins such a way that it is noticeable. Cullen has been kept on for another year as has Josh Thomas. Only Parker has excited the fans and he is hesitating on a new deal it seems. I was just reading about Eborezie Eze. At 24 he has really kicked on after being moved around clubs. Has the academy lost its way.? [Post edited 1 Jun 17:42]

| Forum Thread | Swansea staffers supporting Russ. Is this healthy? at 19:08 28 May 2024
This clip was taken from WoL "Staff show support for Martin Swansea City staff members travelled to Wembley to show their support to former boss Russell Martin. Martin oversaw a 1-0 win for his Southampton side, a victory that made him a Premier League manager for the first time". This would absolutely infuriate me if I was Coleman. The club is having to sue him to get fair compensation and he has already taken a number of valued backroom staff. Are there concerns over "split loyalties"? |
| Forum Thread | Africa Russians taking advantage of Western malpractice? at 13:29 3 May 2024
Africans have long been complaining of Western countries and firms exploiting the locals and winning contracts by bribery and corruption. These days African countries are working more with Chinese and Russians. Wagner were hugely corrupt and violent so it might be out of the frying pan into the fire. Prigozhin was thought to control mines and worth billions. It does not suggest progress to me but who knows. It is a shame Western Governments did not operate more ethically. One is reminded of the mess Maggie's boy got into. Arrogance on stilts. https://amp.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/02/russian-troops-enter-airba |
| Forum Thread | Could Swansea buy Rushworth? at 17:37 2 May 2024
Imagine you were a US owner of Swansea and worth a billion or two as were a couple of your mates on the board. Could Swansea make an offer for Rushworth. £8m cash. https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/award-wi Of course Swansea would have to sell Wood and pay him £10k for sustainability reasons as explained by Mr McGuire. It seems to me Rushworth is as close as a "sure fire bet" in transfer terms you are going to get. Uncle Sam wants sure fire bets and has the cash. |
| Forum Thread | A centre forward who does not like heading the ball. at 21:31 28 Apr 2024
I saw Liam Cullen's debut versus Crystal Palace in the league cup early round 5 years ago. Potter threw in a number of youngsters Harries the centre back, Dan James, Reid the solid full back and one or two others. He looked lightweight Reid put in a beautiful aerial cross to Cullen to head and score on his debut. He made a miserable contact and the bll dribbled away. It seemed to me he did not fancy it at all. Two year later Bidwell put in another great cross that Ayew would have buried. Sadly it was Cullen on the end of it and missed everybody. He by then had beefed up quite a bit. I have always backed the man as Swansea born Centre forwards are very rare indeed. I want to see development. Versus Norwich Ronald did a beautiful pass fed in Key and put in a lovely cross head height. Perfect for a planted header giving the keeper no chance. The Centre forward declined to head it and leaned back and took it on his chest instead. This gave time for the Norwich defender to get a block in. If you do not like that sort of contact then you cannot be Swansea city's number nine i my opinion. A lot of chances will slip away with two wingers and Key and Tymon putting in juicy crosses. Swansea appears to have two forward one who cannot head the ball and another who can but is not good enough on the deck. Cullen does not have lightning pace like Michael Owen type so needs an all around game. Cadogan also have an horrible headed effort for the u21. Other opinion are welcome. [Post edited 28 Apr 21:33]

| Forum Thread | Are the Norwich stats a concern despite a good draw? . at 12:06 28 Apr 2024
A good uplifting game and a good point but are the statistics a concern?. Shots attempted and shots on target for Rushworth to deal with. 27 shots. 7 shots on target. [Post edited 28 Apr 12:46]
