I agree with quite a lot of this.

Total lack of road sense is shared with drivers.
Helluva lot more dangerous to have idiot drivers out there ignoring the rules than idiot cyclists though.

yep agree actually but dosnt help any poor fecker hit by a idiot cyclist crossing the road , or is hit while staionary losing a wing mirror scraped down the side when lycra boy slips through the traffic , or causes an accident while spooking a horse when bombing past pass

Nope, but then not sure what you want me to do about it.
On your repeated claims about horses, do you not see any correlation about how pi$$ed off you get about your lycra brigade zooming close by these mythical beasts and drivers zooming close by cyclists on London roads?

ok lets try this approach for example if a cyclist is bombing down a lane and causes an accident by his actions with a horse resulting in the rider being thrown and horse being injured or killed should they be held responsible for this ? should they have insurance to compensate the rider
for loss of earnings ?
injuries to the horse ?

car drivers those nasty people mostly do slow down and give some space, never seen a cyclist once stop or slow down when going past

Course you've never seen it wumbat dear chap, course not.
If a cyclist were to have such an accident with a horse then presumably you'd call the police and sue the rascal.

yes thats easy to do damage is done and the rider is normally on the road and the horse is either on top of them or bombing down the road, and yes punk have seen it funnily enough , hard to sue somebody whos not there or in the rare case they are , have no money to pay.

was very pleased to hear the wife and her friend had smacked such a cyclist with a riding crop just last weekend as he went past her giving zero space to her or her friends while out

not in the highway code correct , anyone who rides has liabilty insurance for any accidents they might be involved in (costs about 70 quid a year usually ) , be it there fault or a car or cyclist causing it , trust me you dont want to be behind a horse when it spooks and kicks out , its its your car behind it say good by the bonnet and lights or it goes through your windscreen and onto you which many do your cars a right off and you will end up in hospital, also coveres the rider for any accident caused by said car driver , cyclist , van etc ,

so you hit a horse you can claim for damages
hit a bike or bike hits you sorry its out your pocket mate

So you are saying that all riders have third party insurance even if it is not mandatory? I find that hard to believe.

cant say every single one do , but a pretty large amount do , they know the dangers of using roads main roads or country roads , with something which can be unpredictable, so most think better to be protected for anything which may happen , cyclists dont seem to have the same mind set which baffles me when they are in more control than the average horse rider is esp when spooked , I know numerous people who have been taken out by cars and had there horse spooked by cycles which usually results in a broken bone or two at best or serious injuries to them and the horse at worst

I used to buy damage/repairables back in the day ,tonce them up for resale.Got a Granada off the salvage firm once, big dent in the front of the bonnet and collapsed front suspension, the docket read"elephant sat on vehicle" - absolutely true, previous owner was following a circus parade.Did very well out of that deal, took a Capri John Player Special in p/x.

There was an almighty din in our road on Sunday, the sound of a car with a real beast of an engine. Mrs R from Afar and I looked out and to our delight, saw a brown Capri, in good nick too! Sadly, it did not have one of those lush fabric roofs...

Maybe a "Flying Turd" 3 litre?I thought they'd all rusted away.
We had a V6 Granada once from the salvage boys that the owner had committed suicide in.He sat in the front seat, stuck a shotgun in his mouth and blew half his head away - the lower jaw part was still there apparently. So we spent a pleasant few days cutting away the headlining with its brown stains and bits of brain/bone stuck in,then dinging down the roof where the pelllets had raised it,stuck a cheap vinyl on top,new headlining - luvvly jubbly.

Blob, you seem to know your Capris. I have always wondered how the 3 litre stacked up against the 2.8i. Sounds like the 2.8i was a lot better based on your comment. Is that the case? I can remember people lusting after the 2.8i back in the day. Those snazzy "drilled out" wheels. "Sexy," as Idris Elba would say.

2.8i all day long. That Dagenham 3 litre was a bit gutless and tricky to work on - you could bust the camshaft and drop bolts down inside. They stuck that 3 litre lump in the Reliant Scimitar as well.If you're thinking of buying one check wheel arches and tops of wings for rust/P38.

There used to be a firm in Leytonstone that did engine varations to Fords of the time(1968- ish). They had a "Superfast" Mk1 Escort with the aforementioned 3 litre V6,a Cortina version and they managed to shoehorn a 5 litre Yank V8 into the Capri. They were tricky in the wet anyway but with that sort of power.......
