I see that Loftus Road avoided any damage, but the Westfield took a direct hit.

Current location: OX10

Two almost at the end of my road! Cheers for that I only knew ofthe big hit, accordngto my nan alot of families died in that one.

I have a book my uncle gave me that the king gave all WW1 Servicemen after the war. It's my Great grandad's and documents the service history of everyone West London including people who lived in my road 100 years ago.

Some of you guys relatives are probably in it too.

Good grief!!
I had no idea of the level of devastation or the quantity of bombs dropped.
I thought it was centralised around the docks & Central London, but to see this is quite something.
No wonder they refer to the 'Spirit of The Blitz' so often.
The population of today has a lot to be grateful for the past generations. I tip my hat in total respect.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Would have been nice if they'd destroyed Chelsea and everything around it. In fact it would be nice if they could come back and do it now, preferably on a Saturday around 3pm.

I was expecting a localised scattering of bombs in key areas but when that link opened it was truley astonishing! Just gives even more weight to how bad it was and the courage of the people at the time.

I think I'll email it to my work colleagues in Germany!

That's the rest of the day now gone reading accounts of life during the war in Eastcote and Ruislip.

Compared to central Londoners us Suburbanites would have gotten off lightly!!!
