The LFW Confession Box
at 10:01 29 Apr 2024

I thought Ainsworth would be a success given what he'd achieved with Wycombe.

I was wrong.

I thought we would get relegated until vey recently.

I was wrong.

Confession time over

I LOVE these awayday features!

Having to suffer family member who are Leicester fans, I absolutely despise that "Straight back up Leicester City" chant .The sheer fkin arrogance of it

Pilgrim and Bare It - Plymouth Vs QPR Match Thread

Genuine question - are you his agent or a close family member?

Week in, week out you come on here to defend Dykes.

I kept faith with Lyndon long after those around me at the match(JU) and those on here had given up but… really? How can you still bang the drum for him?….

That tackle by Clarke Salter

He was actually my man of the match before Jimmy’s late intervention!

I think J C-S has been superb this season and the partnership with Cook has been a revelation.

Chel*** supporters say club is a ‘laughing stock’
at 08:57 21 Mar 2024

Their sense of entitlement is almost laughable.

A nothing club until a Russian crook with stolen cash bankrolled them.

Seeing their (relative) demise is quite funny but won't alleviate the pain of watching them lift titles and European silverware.

Until I read that article, thought my hatred of them was ebbing -now it's back!!

Sunderland stalemate keeps Rangers hanging – Report

"Mike Dodds, who looks like that sort of nightmare dad who manages the village U9s side in an initialled tracksuit. "

...Had me proper LOLIng!

PS As much as we might reflect on a miss here and and points dropped there, every other set of fans in the relegation mix will have a similar litany of missed chances/bad luck/if onlys

It was only two years, as opposed to one.

Does anyone seriously think Cook won't be able to cut it next season?

Not really.

Boils my p*ss when forwards casually admit "Oh , my right foot's the swinger". Pathetic

cpgerber wrote: There has been a lot of criticism for signing Cook and Colback because its not what the club should be doing, but I for one think we absolutely had to. They are proving their worth in gold and we desperately need their experience and quality to stay up.

This. 100%

In the past we have centre backs that have done brilliantly for us well into their 30's, so could never understand the angst about offering Cook a 2 year contract.

For me, he is the most important player we have. A superb defender, marshals things well at the back and comes across as real leader.

And Colback has been very useful for us too.

A long time between drinks - Preview

Great preview Clive.

Agree about "that game" against Oldham being the one that is most fondly remembered in the last 20 years.

As a regular from the late 70's onwards, the game from that era that I love to reminisce about is "Clive Allen's knee" aka the FA Cup semi final in '82.

Great report on a fantastic win.

As well as the fabulous prose, I also really enjoyed the photo montage of the second goal.

Terry Venables RIP
at 11:43 27 Nov 2023

Greatest Manager in my time supporting Rangers.

Met Terry once. Was out with my cousin and a couple of others for a slap up meal at a plush curry house (Bombay Bicycle Club). We were steaming through the food and lager, fortunately it was all on my cousin's expenses!

Half way through our meal, Terry came in with an attractive woman and proceeded to sit at a nearby table. After a couple more pints, I plucked up the courage to go over to his table. As it was just after his spell as England Manager, no doubt he thought I wanted to talk about that.

I started with "I'm a massive QPR fan". His face lit up and and he smiled that big smile and we proceeded to talk about Rangers for the next 20 minutes- much to the disgust of his dinner companion! As I knew he would be, he was warm, witty, intelligent and a true gent.

RIP Tel.

I think Jordan makes some sound points.

However, he is such a contrarian that if White had pushed the "Cifuentes is a great choice" line, Jordan would be arguing Warnock's merits!

We talk of the little twts seeing off 3 managers in 8 months, but a plausible starting XI
doesn't contain that many that were here last season. And of the ones that were, I'd certainly put Dykes and Field as two that give their all, however limited

Chair Dykes Smyth
Dozzell Field Colback
Paal Cook Fox Cannon
Begovic

I suppose what I'm saying is that many of the wasters are (thankfully) no longer in the building and the malaise might not run as deep as we fear.

Any acknowledgment from any of our hopeless players towards Ainsworth?
at 09:42 30 Oct 2023

Hopefully he'll be done for breach of contract and his time at QPR will be over. Would be best for player and club.

Doubt it'll happen, but you can hope!

So, Mark Devlin then as Jim wasn’t a CEO.

The majority have been crap- Phl Beard, David Davies and other nonentities whose forgettable names (and tenures) , I’ve forgotten.

“The next season, we had Chris Willock, Ilias Chair, Seny Dieng, Rob Dickie, who we could have sold for good money. But we were in the top six. So the owners went, ‘We can’t sell our best players, we’re in the top six’. I said, ‘Well, hang on a minute, the remit is we need to raise money, we need to sell players’. Your players are going to be at their most valuable, unfortunately, when they’re in the top six. If I could change anything it would be having the plan and sticking to the plan rather than changing the plan.”

Can you imagine how many pitchforks would be flaming if we'd sold Willock and Chair when we were in the top six?
