Someone suggested we loaned them to Accrington Stanley.................surely not.

We did, but did we get them back?

Farcical. I knew as soon as I woke up this morning and looked out of the window that this would happen.

Why hasn’t the pitch been covered ‘just in case’?.
What are we going to do to ensure we have at minimum, a playable surface, for the rest of the season?
Where and when are we going to play those remaining games we have in hand?

Whilst we try and find answers to these questions, it’s difficult to remain positive. The very least the club should be doing is to release some info, with a plan as to how these issues will be resolved.

I don't think our normal covers would work anyway - the pitch needed the inflatable ones which we've apparently returned?

It's desperate now we are running out of weeks to play our games.

The pitch now needs to be the clubs first second and third thought every single day!

Why not covered last night beggars belief!

aside from the inflatable ones we hired, we have two types of covers - the frost covers that we've had for a few years and some rain covers that have been purchased fairly recently.

There needs to be a damned good explanation as to why those inflatable covers went back

We loaned the frost covers to Accy.

There’s a statement going out shortly. Just been down to the club for Spurs tickets.

Was told the pitch will be re-laid.

That is what it will take now, sadly.

I wonder who’s paying for it?

"We were confident at the time of the communication yesterday that pitch was playable, however, due to the amount of rain that has already fallen and the predicted forecast for the remainder of the day, the game will not go ahead."

Maybe looking at the "predicted forecast" for all Saturday would have pre-empted what was coming weather-wise, and the required action been taken, preventing an absolute embarrassment for RAFC a week before the most high profile fixture we've had in decades. I do hope Mr Dunphy's "We will play Spurs at Spotland" prediction isn't as lame as the "There is no pitch inspection planned and it is very much game on. " Tweet from the club yesterday.

We should be paying for it ourselves. The win against Milwall will have earned the club a slice towards the cost of this. If the £70k the bellends on Talksport quoted is accurate (or at least ballpark) then the Cup money should cover that.

Unless of course, the Milwall money had already been spent...

but, like most else they said, it's not accurate - pitch expert said completely new pitch costs £500K - £1M.

The FA should make us pay for it. We can't provide a fit for purpose pitch for our remaining fixtures. Every time it rains we're going to be in the same position.

The FA if they had any balls should tell us we either have to relay the pitch or start making provisions to play home games away from Spotland. We're going to be 5 games behind most other league one teams now and if the pitch wasn't relayed that number would only get bigger.

If the pitch is relaid, it will then face three games in four days with Hornets moving their game which clashed with the Spurs game to the Monday night, and then the MK Dons game on the Wednesday

That's a complete overhaul - happening in Summer. A relaid pitch will cost £100 k.

Given the FA are giving us £247,000 for hosting the TV game, we can hardly plead poverty with them and expect a handout.

Totally agree. When one considers the impact such a statement is going to have then the very least the club can do is to ensure there are not words missing etc from the released statement. It just makes the whole operation appear amateurish.

A relayed pitch is the answer to all our problems.

It will be immediately put down and playable and will last us at least 18 months until the summer after next.

There will be no further postponements and there will be no visible turf lines or evidence of turf slippage beneath players feet of big divets being taken for innocuous tackles as the turf fails to mesh or bed in.

All will be happy and we wont need a pitch inspection until 2 hours before we are due to play Port Vale next Tuesday as there is no chance the game will be called off.

The sooner it starts the better.

It’s not the answer to all our problems but if done a month ago we wouldn’t have as many now.
