Championship ambitions seem to be mentioned a lot more readily now.
Seems like a really good appointment this, a person with loads of experience and hopefully some bold new ideas. Glad we've appointed somebody with a proven track record.

Got a couple of mates who are Hartlepool fans who are genuinely sad and a little bit shocked to see him go.
Seems a little bit comparable to when we got Coleman from Accy. We've looked into the division below for the best candidate we think we can snag... Hopefully this one won't turn out to be a Grade A cockwomble!

No reason at all why he shouldn't be successful, we are a similar Club to Hartlepool. The big mistake would be to expect him to carry on with the Status Quo at Spotland, obviously carry on the good work that Colin did at the Club but introduce fresh ideas and a new outlook.
The man is obviously good at his job so give him his head and let him use his expertise, he might take the Chairman and Directors to places they don't want to go but that's what needs to be embraced to effect change. In other words, let him do his job without too much interference.
No disrespect to Colin but we don't need a replica of what he was. We need to really raise the profile of the Club, not only to potential investors but also the public of Rochdale and surrounding areas.
We need to also get away from constantly harping on about having a low budget and bulling the bigger Clubs up prior to playing them ( Hilly), i hate that because we can beat anybody in this league. The whole Football World know what we are about now and it's about time we started talking the Club up and being a lot more bullish, at times we seem to be apologising for competing in the same league as some of these Clubs.

If Burton can get promoted to the Championship then there should be no fear of us doing the same.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Exactly and not putting players on long contracts is the key to making it financially viable. Once there, keep to the budget and try to survive. The worse case scenario would then be relegation with parachute payments included and players coming to the end of their contracts.
Burtons promotion makes a mockery of the notion that the smaller Clubs can't compete and succeed in League One. With Hill at the helm and a few decent additions to this current squad we could quite easily invade the Promotion/ Play Off places this season. We have exciting young players who are improving so nothing would really surprise me.Hill just needs to get lucky with his August recruiting plans.

You don't get parachute payments from the Championship to league 1 - but even so , the jump in tv money is crazy - the 600k we get in lge 1 is increased to something daft like 4 million pounds! There's no way Hill or Dunphy would plan to spend that - we could pay off the Stadium loan in one go and sort out the facilities and still have money for the next season whichever league we are in.

My mistake regarding Para Payments, cheers. We could still attract decent players just by competing in the Championship, contrary to popular belief not all of the players are in a position to hold Clubs over a barrel when it comes to wages. Work out your budget on wages and stick to it, I am not one of those who views a visit to the Champioship as the next Armageddon, I think it would be great for the Club.
