These sorts of people are part of a society that seems to not be able to handle when they're not the centre of attention, or spoiled to the point where they aren't used to being told no. I thought we'd got past the stage of pointless sexist remarks, simply because women want to go watch a game and enjoy themselves. Makes me embarrassed to be a fan and a man in these moments. I agree that it's not the schools fault, I just wish we'd be more accepting as a society.

Respect for women etc and just being a decent person in society. So many of these kids don't have any social skills at all, and yes it needs to be taught at home also. But often the parents don't care, because they get that sort of behavior from them anyway. It's just soul destroying to hear about

He is part of the society nowadays that can't handle being told 'no' so they think they can do what they want. This happens way too much in English football wtf is going on!

Ugh I can't believe this! The UK tries to paint this image that it's so diverse etc, but at it's core it has extreme racist and sexist beliefs. These kinds of 'people' need to be educated, but I feel these are too far gone. This needs to be taught in schools, or the country will just get more and more like a dog's dinner.

I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion once you pay your money and go in. But be sensible about it you know, like I just never understand abuse after abuse for a player who's clearly struggling. Why can't we try and gee these players up. It's a small stadium and they'll hear all this stuff. First few weeks I saw graham I thought he was a decent player at full back, but this three at the back is killing him. Players at this level are often limited to where they can play best. The trouble is with coaches like Stockdale is they see the top teams and think their own players can adapt to change of system so easily. Stockdale needs to get his head out of these coaching manuels and actually realise the true strengths of his own players.

This says more about the manager as well, that he didn't realise how much he was struggling.

I think it's disgusting that a so called fan would give abuse to a player who is clearly struggling, says more about you imo.

The abuse that Graham was getting today was tinpot from the stands. Circus music from the fans, personal abuse etc. It is clear the lad is low on confidence, and abuse from the stands towards your own player is counter productive. Why as a fan would you want to shout and yell at your own player, and think the abuse will make them better. When a player is struggling he needs support from everyone.

This also needs to be evident to the manager, when a player is struggling, you shouldn't keep putting him in the firing line. There needs to be managing these situations from the boss.

I will though, never understand why any so called fan would boo one of their own.

So that's an excuse to just give up looking? And anyway BBM wasn't a manager.

Where do you think the likes of the Crowley brothers started off? There are lots of up and coming managers in the non league who would jump at the chance to get a job like Dale. This is a club who is well respected amongst the lower leagues, so take a chance with someone who is an actual manager and who wants to impress. This whole argument or the budget etc is just a defeatist attitude and explains why the club has been low down for so many years. Take a chance and see where it gets you.

So take a chance with some from non league. I'm not advocating giving these sorts of failures work. But take a chance with someone lower down, who is eager to impress and on his football management journey.

Why keep persisting with these untried coaches, who have never managed, never had to change a game midway through, never had to deal with day to day player management. But they read a few coaching manuals, can talk a good game, but ultimately, the majority of them, aren't cut out for it. For the amount of money wasted hiring and firing these trainees, you could get in someone who actually has a managerial track record. This is not a development club, but it appears to be happy going through the trial stages. There is a fear, and that needs to change.

Personally I don't see much progress on the pitch. It's a lower league than last year so results will be better, but I don't see a lot of on field development tbh.

If I'm totally honest, I'm not seeing any difference between this play under Stockdale, and BBM's style. This was a game where Rochdale were tactically outclassed by a non leaguer. Notts were better in possession, they had much more pace in their passes, and were much better in tight spaces and playing through the lines. Why have players like Odoh been stiffled in the way they play, because he's no where near as dynamic as he used to look.

Rochdale haven't had an actual manager now since Hill left, they need to stop hiring in these inexperienced coaches and making the team into this sort of development team. There needs to be an actual manager who can tactically adjust when needs be, not someone who comes in with this philosophy of how they play the game, but cant change things as they go. This is League 2, you don't get to have a philosophy. All I see is sideways passing and zero movement off the ball, and this comes from managers instructions, you have to be smart enough to change the game when your style is failing. This is boring and stiffling football that is easily found out. I can't see any improvement, and unless a proper manager comes in, it won't change.

Frustrated rant
at 19:30 9 May 2021

I have never known a club who work so hard to achieve nothing.

There is zero ambition rn, and I can’t emotionally invest in them as they are at the moment.

Match Thread: Hull City v Rochdale
at 20:39 3 Mar 2021

Haven’t posted for so long, but I feel the need to lately. I have to say that I do not feel much of a connection to the club in its current form. It feels to me that someone or something has sucked the life out of the club. Did this happen when Dunphy was forced out of the club? It looks to me that this club has no ambition anymore, they look to have just accepted the condition they are in. How can you be a professional club and not have any ambition towards being the best. How can you be a football club without wanting to keep improving, and being the best that your tools allow you to be. I don’t care if you’re Barnet or Bayern Munich, without ambition you may as well not exist.

I myself find it so hard to connect to a club that I feel are perfectly happy with mediocrity. I know Rochdale have always been a club that has had to live within the limited resources they’ve had. But in the times under Hill and Dunphy there was a feeling that the club wanted to move forward. There is a manager in now that feels like a mouthpiece for the board, someone who will just be happy to be given a chance at management, someone who maybe won’t ask too many demanding questions. Can you imagine Hill putting up with this inertia, no way in hell would he.

I will not allow myself to be emotionally connected to the club as it is now, I can not connect to a club that just looks to be throwing away all the good work it’s done over the past few years. I can not allow myself to be drawn into the apathy that hangs around the club.

How can the club get away with treating fans as idiots, by having a manager who clearly the players have figured out, and then comes out every game saying the same crap, fans are not idiots.

There does not seem to be any urgency from the board to address this current situation, there is no drive to think that this situation is unacceptable. Instead they’re advertising for sporting director roles etc. This whole situation is something that is not acceptable, but the lack of desire from the top, to change is something that I can’t forgive.

That’s another thing, are there going to be levels of ‘misbehaviour’ What constitutes a talking to, and then what do you have to do that means you would get kicked out. So many side rules, that I’ve no doubt haven’t been thought out.

I thought that football in the time of corona couldn’t get any worse. It was encouraging that fans would be allowed inside stadiums. I thought things would be returning to something along the lines of normalcy. Now to hear that you are only allowed in, providing you sit down and say nothing! What a load of shit. If this is going to be the case for the majority/entirety of the season, then just don’t let fans in! There are few impossibilities in life, but this is one of them. In the heat of the game, someone, somewhere will spout out something, football fans just can’t stay still when watching their own team, it just can’t be done. And then what? Evicted from the stadium? Don’t let fans in, if they can’t act like fans. I would not pay upto £23, to feel that I was being watched so intently. It isn’t an enjoyable environment to watch a football match in. How are you able to support your team in such circumstances, you just can’t.
