I thought the same. Sounds more like they are there to underpin any losses and ensure the club survives - but don't be expecting them throwing millions into the club to get us into the Championship. What that would mean (I imagine) is that we'll still need good business people in charge who make us sustainable. Perhaps at best they can provide some help with training facilities? But certainly there should never be any danger that they are going to sell the ground to claw back their losses. So pretty much as good an outcome as anyone could have hoped for. |

and Jim has been in charge for 46 of those 100 games so I’d hardly say he had nothing to do with it either |

passing it around aimlessly at the back is what lead to Woking's goal. How many other goals have we conceded this season by doing the same thing? and yet we still persist. The definition of madness. if we stay up, and if the new ownership gets over the line - a fresh start for next season needs to see someone else taking over the reins. Jim has been a long standing servant and I don't doubt at all how much he loves the club. There's no doubt he's found himself in an extremely difficult situation this season. But performances, and results, have too often been absolutely dire. We might just about have enough to stay up this season, thanks to some decent results earlier on, but look where we are now. The form table from last 10 games has us 22nd: https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=5&tab=tab-last10 It's by no means certain we can keep playing like we have and avoid another relegation. Even if we do, its difficult to say that on the pitch we have halted the decline of the past few years. Something has to change. |

if the Trust do meet an investor and are subject to an NDA -If it's someone sketchy they have no mechanism to raise the alarm with the fans, and the armchair detectives cannot complete their due diligence which was so effective last time. -If it's someone great (or, at a minimum, alright) they cannot reassure fans that the worst is not just around the corner. Either way this doesn't seem to help anyone except, perhaps, the self aggrandisement of the people involved (to be clear I have no idea who the people on the Trust are, so this isn't aimed at anyone in particular) |
| Forum Reply | EGM + statement at 13:19 21 Feb 2024
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the investor waiting in the wings is someone the fans would want to run a mile from. We've already seen the types of people SG has wanted to sell the club to before, and how petulant he got when the last deal fell through because fans had simply done their due diligence. So this, essentially, is about SG scaring shareholders into selling to this new investor who they otherwise would never entertain. As I've said for a while - being in SG's best interests and being in the club's best interests are not necessarily the same thing. I accept he probably cannot invest any more money, no hard feelings about that I don't expect anyone to have unlimited resources - but it's also clear that SG's only concern is recouping his money. And if that means selling to some godawful investor, or seeing the club going into liquidation (rather than administration) so the ground can be sold off and he repaid - so be it. Whatever the outcome from all this, I think most paths from here lead somewhere terrible and I'd agree with other posts that the club as we know it is probably gone. |

This to me was everything wrong with McNultyball. Aimless passing, possession without doing anything with it. Offered absolutely nothing going forward and you could sense that all Bromley might need is one chance to take all the points. Feels like a real step back after some encouraging results in recent weeks. And before people shout ‘Bromley are second’ they were shite, offering as little as we did all game the only difference is they actually made the most of the chance they got. Bromley were there for the taking but we didn’t look like scoring if we’d played for a week. |

Interesting - I had never read what their objections were to the supposedly shameful vote. But by their own account the vote was lost because the Luton fella got stuck in traffic and the Grimsby fella was too gormless/p1ssed to get a ballot paper. And this is Rochdale's fault why exactly?? Its bitterness and being stuck in the past which would make a bury fan blush. Absolute garbage and makes the thumping they got last night all the sweeter. |

York actually had some good chances. Hit the bar and with a bit of luck could have scored one and I don’t see us going on to win it. As it is we came out deserved winners I think. Great cheeky finish from Hendo. Sinclair had a good game and the midfield played well. Pleased with that given that I thought we’d miss Clayton. Not so sure about Mitchell though didn’t think he posed much of a threat. Hope Rodney comes back soon. Keeper made some good saves and deserves a mention. But we still lack the creativity in the final third and all the possession is meaningless unless we make it count. Have to be happy with the position we find ourselves in. Let’s hope we can keep the momentum going. Well done Jim. |

Very frustrating. We had most of the possession (and chances, although there hadn’t in truth been loads) and yet go in to HT 1-1 after failing to deal with a corner yet again. York don’t look up to much but I will say once again I’m not a fan of this possession for the sake of it. We have to DO something with the ball. Create chances. Make opportunities. Just passing it around won’t win a match. A game we should go on to win but have no idea if we will. |

but if you don't have confidence in the board you are hardly going to vote for this |

"they don't seem the type who would sell off the ground for personal gain" No but are they the type to sell off the ground to cover personal losses? Of course they are. Not saying there are many who wouldn't - but this is why taking out a loan against the ground is such a dangerous idea. |

My local club Warrington Town, newly promoted to the National League North, have just announced their season ticket prices for the upcoming season: Adults £240 Concessions £140 Juniors £49 So not too different and they have no facilities to speak of. Extremely tinpot ground. |
| Forum Reply | Big Jim confirmed as permanent manager at 08:37 13 May 2023
When the new board first started my one and only criteria for the manager they appointed was that they had some experience, to offset their lack. Who did they appoint? Robbie Stockdale. This time my one and only criteria for the manager they appointed was that they had some experience of the National Leagues, as it’s a whole new world for this club and it was vital at such a precarious point that the man in charge had managed down here before. Who did they appoint? Jim McNulty. And yet we’ve been told ‘lessons have been learned’. |
| Forum Reply | Rochdale's Relegation: Mark Hodkinson Q&A at 19:22 27 Apr 2023
Absolutely fantastic article. Mark speaks an awful lot of sense and it’s hard to argue against any of his conclusions, even from a position of having much less inside information than he is privy to. His sentiments about relegation out of the league feeling like a line in the sand really echo my own thoughts - the one thing we could always be proud of was our unbroken spell in the league and even if by some miracle we bounced straight back next season, that’s something we’ve lost now forever. I hope the complete changes he advocates for, on and off the pitch, do indeed come to pass and this awful feeling surrounding the club starts to lift. |

You are somewhat missing the point. This is about self reflection from the Chariman after the most disastrous season in the clubs history. We all understand we are working under constraints but if he’s essentially saying there’s nothing more he could have done, he wouldn’t have done anything different he’s basically saying this is all he’s capable of. I don’t think he or anyone else can say this season came about despite doing everything possible. I don’t accept that at all. Especially after a season like this he should be reflecting on what went wrong and assessing what to do differently next year. But according to him there isn’t anything to be done differently because he did everything he could. Do you believe that? I don’t. But if that is what he thinks and it really is true he tried everything he could think of then that says he doesn’t have the skills for the job. How can you not see that? |
| Forum Thread | Simon Gauge interview at 09:30 25 Apr 2023
Haven’t seen the full clip but genuinely cannot believe what I’m hearing here. If he’s telling us this is the best he could have done, that he has no regrets and is satisfied he tried everything possible IN A SEASON WE GOT RELEGATED FROM THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE then how is this not the preamble to saying ‘and therefore I have realised I do not have the necessary skills required for this job and resign from my post’. How the hell is this acceptable? |

I think that’s me done. I started watching the Dale in the 80s when I was 6yo and we were pretty terrible. So it’s not like I’m not used to us being crap. But this is a new low. I’ve got no interest in watching a non league team. Just haven’t. Perhaps in the unlikely event we get involved in a promotion push (at some point) I’ll come back but I have no plans to attend another Rochdale game. This club has lost something monumental today and I very much fear for its future. I can’t keep putting myself through this sh1t. All the best to any of you brave enough to stick around but I said a few months ago and got shouted down for it that relegation puts us in just as much of a perilous situation as if MH had achieved their takeover. This still seems true to me today. Absolute disaster. |
