They never should have got rid of us in the first place. I was a steward for 25 seasons between 1996-2020 and a supervisor on both Sandy and Main stand. They sacked a lot of fantastic stewards who were Dale fans and we put the customers first and I am led to believe things have deteriorated since we departed. Must contact Pete Hogan and see if he wants to return šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

Must admit that appeals to me, how would I go about it? Might need a seat at times, my pins are not too good atm. I wouldnt mind being ā€œon the coal faceā€ as it were but need to be moving. Cannot do every game though

Sorry if this appears as sour grapes because it absolutely is. I thinkbI have every right to be aggreived.

I was the senior steward on Sandy then Main between 2009 until myself and other loyal Dale stewards services were dispensed with in 2020 ( some may remember me? ). I like to think I had a brilliant rapport with the fantastic spectators on both of those stands as I worked with the supporters, not against them, being as accommodating ad possible on every occasion. I admit I messed up occasionally as im not perfect, nobody is, but I like to think I did a decent job.

If I was still there I would have had 29 seasons unbroken service. I still feel extremely bitter that after 25 seasons how I and my colleagues were treated and have never set foot in the ground since. I definately miss the supporters, many of whom became good friends.

I would go back in a heartbeat as a senior steward because I worked damned hard to gain supervisor status and Im not starting at the bottom again. As I miss the job, the place and mainly the fantastic supporters. To cap it all I lost my two Goldbond rounds also.

Reading the forums I may have blinkered vision but things have appeared to have got worse. Am I right??

As a former Goldbond agent for 15 years doing two walks. I would hope we would be given first refusal on recommencing our former walks. If so I will happily recommence them both.

Littleborough CC team of the season in the Lancashire League. First and Second teams both division winners and U18 joint champions. Plus a certain Clinton Perren scoring his 20,000th run in 15 seasons at the club. The future is looking bright at Hare Hill

Thanks for the good vibes guys, I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Sandy the fans who were on the stand at that time were absolutely superb and made my job easier. Miss you all.

Pete Hogan ā€¦.. a strange character who once accused me of getting him fired , laughable

Absolutely, letā€™s hope things will carry on like this in future games. Why make waves when itā€™s not necessary. Must have been a good bunch working tonight.

No conflict as far I was concerned, a steward first and a Dale fan second. The safety, comfort and wellbeing of the customers and my staff was my only concern. My Dale head was left at home on match days where I was working

I never argued with my staff anyway, but would definately not do so in front of customers, itā€™s not good to see. And as far as staring at your daughter and her friend thatā€™s so wrong on a multitude of levels. I would absolutely make a complaint to the club directed to the Ground Safety Officer. They have lists of the staff employed on that stand. At the next game if he is there have a word with the supervisor and ask for the steward to be removed from the position or better still the stand, no spectator should have to feel intimidated. Try and get the stewards number or name and Iā€™m sure on freedom of information the club has to provide it. I hope all stewards are now DBS checked, if not they should be. Due to my job in education I have an enhanced DBS but I donā€™t think anyone was in my day. I could be wrong however, but I think the stewards would have to pay for their own.

Iā€™ll work with the club and the trust if that is what they want but Iā€™m definately not running back to the place I was sacked from with no good reason. If I had made a major error I would find it easier to understand, but I had an unblemished record and I believe I was well liked by players and supporters alike, enough drinks were bought for me by the fantastic supporters. Not sure if any of the old brigade would follow me back either as many have now moved on. I was bewildered and incredibly hurt, to be treated like this after 25 seasons hence my bitterness. Iā€™m not sure my body is upto doing a full season thesedays, Iā€™m not far off 60

We had a few who were ā€œĀ£10 and a yellow jacketā€ but they were shown the door quickly. The majority were Dale supporters who had a genuine love for the club and like me worked with the fans to make the game pleasurable for them. Donā€™t know why we were dispensed with as we were not paid anything like what the current lot are paid now. We were all fully trained with the emergency services present at many of them, and as a supervisor I was Level 3 trained with refreshers every season. We were not perfect but Iā€™m sure neither are those who are there now.

Maybe they should have retained the stewards they previously employed, instead of a rentamob. Stewards who got on with and became friends with supporters and worked with them and not against them, taking time to explain the reasons for the decisions given to them from the ivory tower. I had worked there for 25 consecutive seasons, and I successfully ran two stands as a supervisor, Sandy and then Main.

Getting sacked from your stewarding job and two goldbond rounds ( which I had done for 15 years bringing in Ā£20,000 for the club ) in the same week wasnā€™t pleasant. Without even a simple thank you. They lost some fantastic stewards and Goldbond agents that week. Many were ST holders who have never returned. I think I have the right and justification to still feel bitter towards the club

All four were playing members at Littleborough CC unfortunately due to rugby commitments, they were never available for selection.

Why not consider donating them to the Local Studies Library at Touchstones? They could be enjoyed by everyone and they could be a useful tool in Dale research in the future. Cannot the club donate one of the unsold copies from Dale games too?

Would love my job back. As a steward and stand supervisor on both Sandy Lane and latterly Main Stand between 1996 and 2020 I miss a lot of people, especially the supporters
