I'd offer contracts to John, Gordon, Jimmy K & Hendo.
Think John has been outstanding this season, especially after a nightmare year in League 2.
I don't think you're finding much better than Gordon at this level, especially with a possible re-sale value at his age should he improve, and given he was linked to both Man United & Liverpool only 3 years ago, that's quite possible.
Keohane speaks for himself, however I can see a League Two team taking a chance on him.
Hendo scored 11 goals and got 2 assists, averaging a goal contribution every 189 mins. I feel that's more than worthy of offering a living legend one last dance, although if I was him I'd be inclined to drop a couple of divisions if I was to carry on.
In terms of letting go:
EEL - best of a bad bunch of CBs (Nevitt aside), hasn't redeemed himself from last season nevermind whatever league wage he is still on.
Clayton - although I do rate him, not keen for having a passenger who's possibly one of our biggest earners?
Sinclair - hit and miss. Would rather have him than Jez, but wouldn't be overly sad to see him go.
Rodney - good stats at the back end of the season, however I don't remember a particularly good performance? I actually think he was quite poor. Impressed he came back so strongly goalscoring-wise, which I suppose is all that matters, and hope he can stay fit wherever he ends up but I don't think we should be taking another chance to have a key player out for over half a season again.
There's a lot of gaps to fill, but we're already in an obviously much better position than last season, even should nobody renew their deals. |

I think looking at that, I'd be offering contracts to Keohane and possibly Gordon and letting the rest go. I'd also be trying to get Uchegbulam off the books.
EEL hasn't redeemed himself from last season for me, I'd expect him to be better than he's been playing at this level. As much as I like Rodney and feel for him, in a brutal world we can't be carrying a player who might miss over half the season again, as good as he can be. Clayton has been okay when he's played but I feel there might be better and cheaper options, same with Sinclair.
Hayes won't be coming back, a move higher up the pyramid for him.
I'm not expecting to go up next season, but I'd like to think going into the season after we won't see as much change to the squad as we've seen for the past 5/6 years. |

Cloak and dagger once again with a decision favoured by SG.
This may be normal procedure for takeovers, I'm not sure, but with the amount of shady dealings we've seen over the past 5 years it's not out of order to suggest that we need to know who is coming into our club.
Everything seems genuine and the proposal all pretty much makes sense, but I'm sick to death of having to second-guess every statement or comment due to a sheer lack of transparency. Maybe that's just football now. |

Transparency is literally all we need here, but that’s something we’ve never had from this board.
Anybody who owns our football club, or at the moment THINK they own our football club, is a custodian. As things stand, there is more than one voice that needs to be heard when choosing the path our club goes down.
Why the WSH bid has gone to exclusivity needs to be the news, not just the information that it has. This decision will shape the future of the club, and it may be the right bid to accept, but we should all know why. |

100% agree bud, however there are 1000's relying on a good deal for Rochdale AFC and only 1 person relying on a good deal for Simon Gauge.
The football club MUST come first, and we can't currently trust SG with that. |

Information surrounding both bids, and any further bids for that matter, need to be accessible to all shareholders immediately.
As I've mentioned on another thread, there needs to be a lot more people involved in this process than SG, and in my honest opinion, SG should have limited involvement in the decision.
The representative who came into the Sandy on Saturday from the TFC bid was accompanied by a former director who I'm led to believe had some "choice" words to share about our chairman before standing down. If there is any underlying feeling from SG about the former director who appears to be possibly linked with TFC, SG can't, as far as I'm concerned, be impartial to look at which is the best deal for Rochdale AFC.
I have defended SG on numerous occasions due to the financial commitment and personal abuse he has suffered over the past few years, but after comments at the EGM coupled with the actual running of the football club he has very little, if any, stock left with me.
Whichever way we go with the bids, Simon Gauge can't have an operational role in this football club going forward. |

I feel like this is the right time now, with at least 2 parties signing a letter of intent, that SG hands over the reigns to the Trust to finalise a deal that is best for the club.
Be involved obviously, but there needs to be a more independent party involved in these negotiations. I saw somebody point out that Simon is the chairman of a fan-owned club, not the owner and that is totally on the money. He has a vested interest in getting the best financial deal, which he is entitled to have, but that doesn't mean it's the best deal for the club.
This offer with the golden share, for me, pips the other solely based on that, however I can see that The Football Club LLC have been trying to buy a professional club in Britain for a while. Why haven't they stepped forward well before this?
We need answers from all interested parties on their intentions for the club and they need to be vetted by multiple bodies. |

I feel conflicted about this whole situation as I'm sure most do.
As somebody else has pointed out, it feels at times like turkeys voting for Christmas.
I don't think anybody can make a wrong decision in voting either way as there are so many variables at play before and after the EGM, nobody knows what's going to happen.
However, I don't want to look back in 5 years time and feel like I contributed to the clubs demise in the way I voted (for clarity, I'm still undecided).
The Trust statement does fill me with more confidence, and in an ideal world, this mystery investor comes along and keeps us going for many years to come. The thing that I don't like is giving up control to somebody who, let's be realistic, probably doesn't know the first thing about the club, the fans, the town. It's a stark realisation that for the first time in at least my lifetime, the club won't feel like it's ours.
I respect the commitment of SG & family as well as the other directors for keeping us afloat, whatever the reasons for that may be, and I don't want to downplay the financial sacrifice they've made. However, where is our say in this? They've run the club like a bunch of stubborn children, not taking well-meaning advice or help from people with either more experienced than them or those who have the clubs best interest at heart, and the clubs best interest ONLY. Why should a board who have made bad decision after bad decision be the ones to make this decision behind closed doors?
The prospective investor(s) has/have their requirements for buying the club which they are well within their right to have, but don't we have fans have a right to our requirements for an investor? An NDA is an NDA, but we need to set our own ground rules for a potential custodian of our club. Their intentions may well be good, but who knows for how long? Where is our security in this deal? Surely we deserve to know who we're getting into bed with before agreeing to let them in the front door and handing them the keys.
I doubt anybody feels comfortable with the whole situation, but the gravity of our decision here either creates a new age for Rochdale AFC or creates AFC Rochdale |

But Oldham have the cash to sign players and are in their second season in this league with a striker that's played in League One for the past 4 years. They should be aiming for far beyond a playoff spot.
It's been highly publicised that we've barely got the money to pay the players we've got, never mind signing more players.
We've been ravaged by injuries like we've never seen before and we are hugely over-performing, arguably performing miracles. Any thought that we should be aiming for a playoff spot by burning more money on players in the hope of a trip to Wembley is absurd. You don't put that down to lack of ambition, you put that down to having zero resources left.
We take the money to keep the lights on, play the kids should we need to and not spend above our means like others have done and spectacularly failed. [Post edited 3 Jan 16:31]

I think what's been made clear multiple times but some on here and further afield still can't seem to grasp is that if the BOD simply wanted their money back and run off into the sunset, the Swindlehurst bid would've been accepted as there are more "relaxed" rules in terms of proof of funding/OADT. That was rebuked for what can only seem like Swindle by name, Swindle by nature.
I'm no fan of how the board have run the club and how they have treated the fans with such disdain at times, but what I do understand is that an NDA is an NDA. It'd make everything easier for the BOD if they could come out and tell everybody the details. It'd certainly stop the abuse they receive on a daily basis, which might I add would make anybody want to turn towards a seige-mentality and pull up the drawbridge.
I first heard this rumour on Sunday with the original source being quoted as a former employee of the club. I'm not sure how I'd link that former employee with O'Rourke so that may not be the person who has leaked it to him.
Whoever it has come from or for what reason is almost irrelevant as long as it is a payroll issue and the players are paid this week. |

It was quite the sight really.
I noticed him smoking right in front of the steward just after kick-off and then again after half time.
Somebody in front of me went to tell a steward, came back with the steward and then himself was removed from the ground on the grounds of the smoker and few of his other smoking cronies, whether true or not, referring to the person removed as a known "not on normal courtyard exercise" (if the myth is to be believed.)
The stewards seemed more interested in these unfounded claims than the actual banned act of smoking in a football ground which various stewards could see. |

The lad has a good amount of technical ability for League 2, but to say he always tried hard is insane. The sheer amount of challenges he pulled out of when we were fighting for our football league status is unforgivable, so jot that down for starters.
Couldn't run a game from midfield like a 19 year old Brierley did after his re-introduction, nor could he grab the game by the scruff of the neck like Lloyd.
If there's one thing he didn't do it was try hard. |

Went to watch Rammy vs Colne a few weeks back, and Scanlon was clearly a bright spark in what are two poor teams in that league.
Could 100% see him in as a squad option, but nothing to tear any trees up immediately. |
