Former Dale striker Rickie Lambert has been awarded a call up to the England squad for next week's game against Scotland.

The call up comes after a hugely successful first season in the Premiership for Lambert. He scored fifteen goals, including efforts against Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool, prompting many a call for an international chance.

The game will take place at Wembley next Wednesday evening, and there's a very good chance that he'll be up against another former Daley with Matt Gilks in the Scotland squad for the game.

He becomes the first former Dale player to be called up to the England squad since Frankie Fielding was a late entry into the squad a couple of years back.
