Refwatch Preview: Dale v Walsall
Monday, 15th Sep 2014 10:00 by TVOS

Highly-rated referee Andy Madley will be the man-in-the-middle for Dale’s match with Walsall on Tuesday.

Mr Madley is in his fourth season on the league list and kick-started 2014/15 when he refereed the campaign’s opening fixture between Blackburn and Cardiff.

This will be Andy’s fourth game at Spotland and so far we have one win and two losses under his charge.

In April 2012 he was the referee for the remarkable match against Exeter when Dale came from 2-0 down to win 3-2, scoring all their goals in the final 11 minutes.

In February 2013 he was back at Spotland for the 3-0 midweek loss to Accrington, while seven months ago he oversaw Dale’s 1-0 home defeat to Dagenham.

Andy has also refereed a previous fixture against Walsall, although that was at Banks’s Stadium on New Year’s Eve 2011 when the teams cancelled each other out in a dire goalless draw.

A 31-year-old PE teacher from Ossett, Andy is the brother of Premier League referee Bobby Madley, who was fourth official at Crystal Palace v Burnley on Saturday.

Andy was due in the middle at Charlton v Watford at the weekend and before that game he had refereed five matches this season, showing 17 yellow cards and one red.
