After what can only be described as a season where he struggled for opportunities, Lewis Alessandra has signed for League Two Hartlepool United,

We'll never know whether it was a case of face not fitting or whether he'd simply not produced enough to justify to Keith Hill a sustained chance in the first team, but last Summer's big signing has now been moved on to pastures new after putting pen to a deal at Hartlepool.

Allessandra came "home" to Rochdale having been brought up in Heywood but he made just a fleeting number of first team appearances and finished the season in an unsuccessful relegation battle with York City.

He tweeted that he was "delighted to have signed for Hartlepool , looking forward to the challenge and can't wait to get going. Also want to wish all at Rochdale AFC and everyone associated with the club all the best for the future".
