Dale started the pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win over AFC Fylde.

Well the headline was a bit of a lie as on the day of the game, they had another game where they lost 2-0 to Huddersfield in a game played behind closed doors, but for public airings, it was played one, won won.

Two different Dale sides were utilised at Fylde with a number of trialists used throughout the ninety minutes. We had former Port Vale wideman Theo Robinson making an appearance as well as the previously mentioned trialists Nathan Eccleston, Marcus Holness and River Humphreys.

The two Dale goals came either side of half time from Nathan Eccleston and Ian Henderson.

First half: Diba, Rafferty, Canavan, Lund, McNulty, Allen, Camps, Hooper, Gillam, Eccleston, Robinson

SECOND HALF: Lillis, Vincenti, Holness, Hollins, Tanser, Cannon, Barry-Murphy, McDermott, Mendez-Laing, Andrew, Henderson.
