Refwatch: Stoke v Dale
Monday, 21st Aug 2017 19:00 by TVOS

Referee Scott Duncan is the man in the middle for Dale’s Carabao Cup tie at Stoke on Wednesday.

Mr Duncan is in his sixth season on the league list and is one of the Select Group 2 set of referees who mainly take charge of matches in the Championship.

We last saw Scott in February when he refereed the exciting 3-3 home draw with Charlton, while earlier last term he oversaw Dale’s final Checkatrade Trophy group game at Hartlepool, which ended in a 2-1 win for the visitors.

The Northumberland-based whistler first appeared at a Dale game in November 2012 when Bristol Rovers were the visitors to Spotland.

Dale won that match 2-1, but The Gas finished with nine men after two red cards in the second half.

Coincidentally, Scott also dismissed two visiting players at Spotland in April 2016 in the final home game of the 2015/16 season.

Swindon were our opponents on that occasion and they somehow escaped with a 2-2 draw!

The full list of Mr Duncan’s Dale games is:

Nov 12 Bristol Rovers (h), W 2-1

Feb 14 Burton (h), D 1-1

Sep 14 Crewe (a, JPT), W 3-0

Feb 16 Bradford (a), D 2-2

Apr 16 Swindon (h), D 2-2

Nov 16 Hartlepool (a, CT), W 2-1

Feb 17 Charlton (h), D 3-3

Before the weekend, when he was due to be in the middle at Wolves v Cardiff, Scott had refereed three games this term, showing seven yellow cards and two red.
