Good marketing by the club on 11:00 - Jul 18 with 2609 views | Swan91 | With the premier league games being televised on American tv I'm sure it can't hurt to promote this club. And who knows if football has started to become bigger over there (I think the World Cup showed that) we could even find amazing talent for the future. The tour overall has looked pretty good and I don't think any negatives have come from this.

But surely his involvement in the activities is important? If he was a surly basta*d and didn't want to have anything to do with the great unwashed, that wouldn't help us would it?

Its his job , he complies within the terms of his employment to do these things. To promote the club as the manager is one of those things I agree. But people making comments about him being the driving force is far off the mark. He was sent there by the club, just like he is sent players to train by the board. He does as he is told, which was one of the reasons the board found him an attractive proposition as manager.

No and he didn't sign Gomis either. Nor manage the current negotiations with Mintero. Garry's a lacky, a figurehead for others to control and manoeuvre, and thats the deal mate, it's what it is. Don't take it so badly.

Who said he was the driving force? The OP just wanted to congratulate the team for the effort they've put in promoting the club while on tour. Last season a post like that would probably have passed without comment, or with people falling over themselves to talk about how great Laudrup is. It may well be part of Monk's job, but don't you get the impression that he's probably better at that side of things compared to Sousa for example? It's hardly the most important facet of his job as manager, but don't see why some see it as a negative.

It's not a negative, I support Swansea city just like you, but also see the middle ground when it comes to the real reasons why GM is Swansea manager.

Interfering with tactics, coaching and managing players on a day to day basis would be unhealthy.. but branding, marketing and tours should be done by the directors.. the Swans are a business after all.

So he did book the flights and organise the tickets ? That was a joke BTW. Come on Darran, Garry is a pawn in the game, and all this is about controlling him, telling him and manoeuvring him in to positions that suit. Which is fine by me, the less understanding folk out there will see it as Garry doing it, and getting all the kudos. Others will see it for what it is, and understand a little clearer the real reasons why the board appointed him. Because with GM that has and will always be the issue. [Post edited 18 Jul 2014 11:57]

So we agree ;-) Do you think its healthy the board sign the players through a small network of agents and scouts and give them to Garry ? This is a genuine question. [Post edited 18 Jul 2014 11:59]

Or the more understanding folk out there will realise that everything you say is an assumption and quite likely to be completely wrong.
