Nope.

Well i have and believe me there is nothing offensive and certainly nothing racist. In fact I'd even bet that Bony would take it as a complement.

Pretty much. I could lend you a slew of books to plot the descent if you'd like. Although given your own youthful dalliances I'm guessing you already know a bit about Cathal Goulding, the 32 County Socialist Republic Movement and the CPGB's role in the the squalor.

Not all of them were reds. They've always had a leavening of sociopaths, gangsters, racketeers, drug dealers, rapists and child molesters to swell the ranks but the one's worth shooting have always been reds. They provided the faux-philosophical umbrella beneath which all manner of creatures crawled and slithered. They were always the ones to shoot. They still are.

I know garages can be a bit of a rip-off and don't always give you the best service but shooting them does seem a bit of an over-reaction.

And as I said in my first post on this thread, I very much doubt that this guy is a racist or set out to be offensive.

But there are still no circumstances in which blacking up is acceptable.

Well whether it's right, wrong or PC gone mad is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned the fact he didn't know it was going to cause problems in this day and age is startling.
Thick tw*t.

Well it is PC gone mad and the fact that it is perceived to be unacceptable sounds to me as if people accept these restrictions on their freedom if expression / speech because "it's the right thing to do".

I like to take a step back and see it for what it is and to me no offence was meant nor should be taken.

ECB, why is it offensive in your opinion.

I genuinely am at a loss here.

Its fancy dress. The aim of the concept is to look as much like the person you are trying to be as possible.

Ive seen people go as native american indians before, in fact its the go-to outfit for female students, and they wear their traditional and cultural clothing... Otherwise they wouldn't look like native indians.

Can you imagine how stupid it would look if this egg chaser had gone as Wilfried Bony and just had a swans top on.

If it is not an insult to be black, then why is it offensive to darken your skin at fancy dress. People cry out for equality and then hold on to such "nothing" scenarios to get all het up about. There was no racism in this situation, but again, ironically, the situation now has a racist undertone because of the people who are predominantly standing for stamping it out.

Just for clarity, I am neither offended nor outraged by this. I'm just saying that the use of blackface for any reason is outdated and not acceptable in this so-called enlightened age.

For those asking why, it's not for me to tell you. If you're content with it then fine, we're all entitled to our own views.

Absolutely no problem with having one's own opinion but I would like to know why. Fine if you feel you don't want to answer, geuinely.

I'm not direct this at you, but I am fed up of things being regarded as insulting when if you look at it, it's not. What happens us it starts as a kernel then grows completely out if proportion with flag bearers representing more the minority than majority.

There are obvious cases where offence is meant and taken but most of the time this is not the case. So what do people do? Throw the baby out with the bath water, zero tolerance if you like. That's the PC brigade for you.

Google "blackface" and see what you think. The Wiki entry is fairly comprehensive. If you still don't understand why it could be offensive to some after you've read that, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I was intending to go to Boxing Day match wearing a Bony type wig. No black face. It would be as homage to my hero.
Would it it be offensive ? I did not think it would be offensive, but I am having second thoughts.
Please advise.

Let's be honest.. only 'thick' people would find this offensive or racist.. it's Liam Williams position that's made the news.. not the actual act.. media just want to make some coin and false outrage.. it's such a non story.

Go on then, I'll indulge the site's resident "controversial" bleating machine. Why would only "thick" people find the use of blackface offensive, Skipster?

So a world class footballer comes to our club, scores goals in the highest league possible , bonds with the fans, becomes a club hero - and this guy thinks that having black skin is something to laugh at and poke fun at. I have simply no idea why it would be funny ? Its embarrassing for the rugby player, and totally embarrassing for his employers.

I haven't seen the photo but obviously have an idea what happened.

Serious question here but in what way is the guy poking fun at and laughing at Bony? He dressed up as him which is presumably why Bony didn't see the problem. I seriously wonder why people are so desperate, desperate to take offence on behalf of others??

I'm sure someone will be along soon to "correct" me and call for my immediate incarceration. I'm sorry if I can't get excited about some no-mark dressing up as Wilf and presumably making some attempt to look like him. Pathetic.

Because its not just blackface is it.. it's like the Fabianski Red card incident.. ignore the handball (swans top).. ignore the opportunity he had (the wig).. just concentrate on the referees interpretation (blackface).. can you see the similarities?..
