Yep.. We were lacking pace in the full back area.. Rangel and Taylor were getting caught out.. Rangel being targeted.. His lack of pace being the reason why we didn't get as forward as much.. Put a quick winger on Rangel to stop him going forward.. Put a quick winger on Taylor.. But it's not his pace being the reason.. He's sh*te!
This is why Monk put out the diamond formation.. To combat the wingers who were holding Rangel to ransom.. So he's looking to bring an attacking left back for versatility when changing formations for that extra impetus.. Montero and an attacking left back.. That's what Monk is after.. When we go away to the big uns we'll play the diamond with Naughton and Tabanou on the break.. Plus bringing on pace if it's around 60 minutes.. He's making us more attack minded on the break.. Plus we're looking for an AM and a new Striker.. Pace we need!
