Cameron states the troops who will take and hold ground against ISIS in Syria (if UK enters into Syrian bombing campaign) are:-
(1) 'Moderate' Free Syrian Army of which he 'estimates' there are 70,000.
Surely this has no credibility?
I assume Free Syrian Army is 100% Sunni - so what are Assad's Shia Alawites supported by Russia going to do in the meantime - while Free Syrian Army is defeating ISIS? Hang on Free Syrian army isn't currently fighting ISIS - it is fighting Assad.
Are the Free Syrian Army actually moderates - or could they actually be more extremist than ISIS?
Is 70,000 troops actually enough to defeat ISIS - even if they had 70,000 which by all accounts they have nowhere near that number.
(2) Kurds
The thing is with regards to the Kurds they don't want to go further than Sinjar because they are then going into Arab Sunni heartlands - so will not have support of local population. Also Turkey is going to bomb the hell out of the Kurds - if they have any success on ground - as do not want the establishment of a Kurdistan state.

I'm not big on politics, especially war politics, so can someone explain to a complete dolt, in laymans terms how countries/governments actually make money from wars?
No I'm not into it either, so take a very objective view. To me it seems it's about ALL the things mentioned on this thread.
Religion - the locals hate each other's guts, and we have a splinter cell in IS who hate everyone's guts if they are not orthodox Muslims.
Power - we still seem to be suffering a hangover from the Cold War, with the belief that it's a race between western alliance nations versus Russia and friends to 'control' the region .
Money - that control brings (among other benefits) the prizes of oil and energy security. But arming factions is more than a nice little sideline in arms deals.
I think it's been said already - it's a clusterfcuk

Dennis Skinner speaking in the Commons. He mentions the real reason for our involvement - ousting Assad. I've run out of adjectives/expletives for Cameron. He's a good actor though, I'll give him that.
and he will never tire of saying so. It doesn't make him a prophet nor a decent man.
Anyway, bridge of spies... wife enjoyed it but I fell asleep and was audibly snoring; she had to dig me in the ribs. I thought it was well acted but tedious but I have a short attention span and am hard to please.
RIP Steve Marriot and Be careful with electrics folks

Its a matter of you simply supporting him and his beliefs, which is fine. I respect that.
Dennis has no solutions and has been just about the most insulting of all MPs over the years. He will be applauded by you but he will be railing against the usual people and countries as did Benn and does Corbyn.
We need solutions and he hasn't, just bitter invective. .
I just came across someone who I thought was raising a valid point in Parliament. As much as I, for example, dislike UKIP, I've seen videos of MEP Godfrey Bloom making what I consider very valid points in Brussels. So I commend him in those instances. Doesn't mean I agree with everything he says.
You seem to be the only person on this forum who uses the phrase 'class war.' I'd suggest the majority of the rest of us don't give a f*ck, and look at each issue on merit.
Enjoy your bath, watch out for prune fingers...
If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever.

perch hates everything left of right except Aldi bargains, for which I praise his knowledge. He's even blamed the swans poor form on Corbyn
