Fair play.

Your family saw some interesting things in the war. Battle of the river Plate, PQ 17 etc.

I'm not taking the piss BTW.

Same chap at River Plate and on the Arctic Convoys, Hump.

I've got a wealth of stories from both world wars I gleaned from participants in my younger days. I vividly recall a chap I worked with, his father recounting his experience of flying across the Channel at dawn on the 6th June, 1944 as part of a Lancaster crew and seeing the entire invasion fleet stretched from horizon to horizon below him heading for France. Can you imagine that? What a sight that must have been!

Or France .

Now then , who's up for a fight against these invaders then ?

The smart money is on the Mauritanians. It pays to keep an eye on the buggers, they could strike at Abersychan with little or no warning...

Indeed.

I had a great grandfather who spent WW1 with the army in India. F*ck knows who he was fighting. Poor bloody Indians I suppose.

A grandfather who ignited my interest in WW2. He drove Matildas, Valentines and Shermans in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and then served as infantry in Greece against the Communists.

And an Uncle who drove a tank in Burma.

Is it me, but watching Theresa Mao's response, she appears to have a definite nervous tick as she speaks.

Sturgeon has really got to her.

NATO membership requires a minimum of 2% of GDP is spent on defence. Of the twenty eight member states only a handful, primarily the US and Britain meet the threshold. Neither France nor Germany come up to the mark. Do you think Wales could succeed where these industrial giants conspicuously fail?

It's a serious question, I'm not being flippant. If you do think Wales could meet her obligations where do you think the swingeing cuts ought to be made so that public funds be redirected to arms from what would be a minuscule public purse?

You're right. Currently the UK spends its 2 per cent on NATO. That's 2% from the whole of the UK which includes Wales. Which means we are currently paying our part of that 2 %.

And very soon all the members of NATO will be made to fulfill their obligations because the US will ensure they do. The US is currently paying 72% of the entire cost, partly because many countries have reneged on their promises.

I think it's fair to state that Mr Trump won't accept that situation continuing.

You've confusing yourself.

UK pay the 2% contribution from UK coffers.

That's from the UK as a whole; meaning more affluent areas are subsidising the less affluent.

So Independent Wales magically has to raise that 2% from it's own money raising schemes. Can't rely on England subsidising it anymore...

No problem. We'll charge them a pound for every litre of water they take from our reservoirs.

That'll not only pay for our NATO commitments but also for the Swansea Bay City Deal that we'll miss out on by not being part of the UK .

And then England say... no.

What's the Plaid plan then - cut public services? Increase tax?

No Barnett formula money anymore. Wales will have to raise it's own finances.

Anyway, great to see Teresa telling the poisoned dwarf where to go regards the timing of her referendum. Hope she sticks to her guns.

I seem to remember hearing about a piece of work by the brilliant Prof Phil Williams a leading light in Plaid back in the day [have you noticed how Plaid has attracted some brilliant minds over the years] and he was said to have taken everything into calculation and Wales was a net contributor to the UK, Wales was giving the UK billions and billions more than it took out.
