Technically brilliant but hugely self-indulgent and lacking in soul, especially when he had his own band. I find a lot of his solo stuff unlistenable. As BB King said - it ain't what you play, it's what you leave out... I knew Alan Murphy quite well as it happens - lovely bloke a great guitarist. | | | |
