It's like a balloon, squeeze in one place, the air goes elsewhere. The money is coming in, cap the wages where does it go? The right thing to do is give it to the football league, but that's socialism, and we don't like that in this country... apparently.

Upthecity!

Not socialism but a way of improving the game ,facilities and aiding the game at the lower levels

We need not to be Afraid of change

How about transfers of over say £5m having a levy of 5% to feed to football league clubs?
So a £10m fee would have a levy of 5% on £5m. = £250k.
It's Fock all to the big clubs, but a lifeline for the smaller ones.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Let them. It won't affect us as genuine fans. It will have an impact on TV revenue, but so what.

How many of these top players have helped get PL team in the Champions League final lately?

The socialism bit was tongue-in-cheek, I'm sure you got that.

You could ask why do football league clubs deserve anything at all? It's an open market, if they are good/strong enough they will get by.

That's not my actual view though, I agree with Leonwasgod. I really doubt all these big players would be missed. Football would carry on, and it would likely be better with more local talent in the sides. A wage cap of maybe £100/200k a week. Or perhaps no more than 3 non-UK players in the squad of 25 and at least 8 players trained at the club in the match day squad, something like that. Would mean all the clubs pump money into youth development.

All pie-in-the-sky stuff though really. It will carry on as is until it all comes crumbling down, or until the talent decides to go elsewhere and people aren't interested in the premier league.

The bloated behemoth that is the Premier League should give a little more to the League 1 and 2 clubs. They exist on a shoestring and a bit of help would go a long way to bring on talent from below.
Having said that, you get idiots like the Orient owner who deserves a kick in the nuts rather than more help. Hartlepool can go do one after Stellings antics. Venky's have ruined Blackburn, Premier League shouldnt give them anything more to Bolton after Gartside got them into loads of debt, not a deserving case.
Come to think of it - feck 'em
