Well, well, well. Theresa found that money tree and gave it to a party with past links to paramilitary groups.

This is NOT going to end well

Spot on. The amazing thing is that they can be so ballsey about it and people still vote for them. They've treated the public with utter contempt lately. And how many election pledges are they now breaking, ditching or u-turning on, I've lost count? But they can get away with it for some bizarre reason, and that's an embarrassment to the rest of the political spectrum.

Indeed. The fact that they are publicly distancing themselves from austerity shows it to be a choice, not a necessity.

By the way, has anyone watched the documentary "Inside Job"?

Perhaps now is the time to openly discuss the possibility of an united Ireland.

I watched the first half of that the other week, never finished it though. Really good what I saw, will have to go back and finish it off.

As inevitable as night following day.

The USA and the EU want it.
The majority if people on the island of Ireland want it.
Soon the majority of people in the notth of Ireland will also want it - and vote for it.
As they did to Remain in the EU.

Be great to see.

Just proves that people will do anything to get power or hold on to it.

This includes getting into bed with a party full of far-right, bigoted, intolerant people.

Thought the DUP were better than that.

Brilliant 😂

Oh, I don't day this out of any desire for it. I'm just thinking about cutting those f*ckers adrift for once and for all. They want prop up up this sh*tty, incompetent, corrupt government for a billion quid?
Well they can take the f*cking consequences.

Peston on the early evening news (I think it was) said that to do the same for the rest of the country would cost 50bn. 1bn is the kind of money you can find down the back of the metaphorical sofa, but you won't find 50bn down there.

Well you say that... but ....by cancelling Trident you save £167b in one go.

Please feel free to take £50 billion from that.

I would then split the other £117 billion evenly between the NHS, defence, and the Swans. Bale looks very nice in the all white.

It's a very good point KJ, but the way the World is going at the minute we could well need Trident.

According to friends in Ireland, the majority of people want nothing to do with the financial drain that they perceive the North to be? Particularly after just dragging themselves back to a healthy financial position after an austerity programme that makes the past seven years over here look like Viv Nicholson has been in charge of the public purse. That and they perceive the North to be bigoted and old fashioned on social issues. Happy that they're our problem is the message from them.

I'd love to take 50bn, ta very much. Realistically, there's little appetite for cancelling Trident. It's Tory policy, and Labour party policy to renew.

As for Bale? Would you have him? He's a Cardiff boy mind.

Older than that. Sixties I think. Before my time I know, although she was certainly still very well known when I was a kid in the seventies, and it was a story people talked about.

It's a fantastic idea, we should welcome the Republic of Ireland back into the UK with open arms.
