The reason is likely to be true imo. Swansea would gain no advantage by putting that statement out unless it was fact as it shows he doesn't want to be here. Other clubs will sniff that and the ball goes into their court not ours.

Probably, which is still a fantastic price when you think what Clement could do with it. I've been impressed with the way the Americans have handled this, if he is refusing to go on tour, there isn't a lot they can do aside from get the best deal possible. However, it is thought unlikely that Swansea will accept the offer, and Sigurdsson's withdrawal from the US tour is not a sign that a transfer to the big-spending Toffees is anywhere near being completed.
The 27-year-old had featured in Wednesday night's friendly defeat at Barnet, captaining Paul Clement's side during the second half at The Hive.
However, following the game the former Tottenham midfielder told the club he did not feel in the right frame of mind to travel given the uncertainty over his future which has shown no signs of abating since last season came to a close.
