They started to cut back at the time of Laudrup. They knew they were going to have to show a good set of books in order to sell the club because they also knew that one day we were going to go down.
They achieved their aim by selling us down the river. Or in this case to a hedge fund who have no interest in the football club, only its returns.
Make no mistake, if we don't go down this year (we will of course) it will all happen again next season when the TV money is creamed off for the 'investors' leaving us with an operational budget that will guarantee relegation.
The yanks won't put money into the club in order to stay up because they know that even if they do, there's still a good chance we'll go down. |  |

The good decisions he made were to leave the football decisions to Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup. Since he's had a hand in recruitment we've been going backwards quickly.
Jenkins is at his best when he allows other people to make decisions. He's at his worst when he's making his own.
He convinced the Americans that he had steered the ship as we rose through the divisions. He took the credit for other people's ability. They swallowed it (and they still believe it) and we're deep in the sh1t because of it. |  |
