Or maybe they are trying to sort things out behind the scenes. Sometimes silence is more appropriate, I’d rather that then rhetoric, jingoism etc which can make a situation worse by pushing someone in to a corner.

Judging by them being a combined half a decade late for the World wars they are probably hiding behind the sofa until they have no choice, they will fight countries they think they can beat mind, but not the big boys.

Putin - Settlement only possible if it contains; 1) Recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea 2) Demilitarisation and 'denazification' of the Ukrainian state 3) Ensuring the neutral status of Ukraine (Re: NATO...and possibly the EU)
Zelensky - 1) Demands full removal of Russian forces, including in Crimea and Donbass. 2) Ukraine to join the EU without interference. 3) Reparations for damage caused.
Zelensky is requesting that the US air force provide a no-fly zone above the Ukraine. Putin is considering taking more towns West to strangle the supply of arms to Zelensky from Europe.
If I could wave a magic wand and make all of Zelensky's dreams come true I would, but I fear he is being unrealistic and unless some compromises are made on both sides the Ukrainian people will suffer more than many can currently imagine...I don't think the Russians have even got started yet. If they are isolated and can't get the guarantees they feel they need it will get very, very, nasty.

Yes it will. If Putin has over extended himself and finds himself in a corner the last thing the Ukraine or the West should do is allow EU membership.
Find a face saving solution for him to keep his strong man image amongst his people - including guarantees about no NATO or EU membership for the Ukraine but giving the Ukraine substantial support to rebuild and economic help.
It’s not a wise thing to humiliate a man who could quite easily obliterate most of Europe and the USA . The Russians support is needed to keep the Chinese in check. They are the real threat not Russia.

I agree. But what if he’s takes over Ukraine and we listen to his threats and he then decides to go further and threaten again ? Real test for his will come when Ukraine falls and then trying to keep control of it. I don’t think they’ll be submissive.

Our only hope to avoid WW3 at the moment seems to be that he does take over the Ukraine but has a very difficult time doing so and this makes him stop at the Ukrainian border. He'll proclaim victory but will hopefully learn a lesson.
We have to give them as much support as possible without resorting to military defence. One foot on NATO soil by the Russians or a NATO bullet fired at a Russian and we're in a nightmare situation.
I just hope that Russia becoming a pariah works.
The man is a complete tyrant and I hope his days are numbered. Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see him in the dock in the Hauge but hopefully his age will catch up with him before he can do more damage.
