http://www.southwales-eveningpost.co.uk/Stoke-City-s-Ryan-Shawcross-play-Wales-s

better than James Collins and Gabbidon...which are admittedly low bars, so worth a shout for our squad? Try to be objective and ignore the fact he plays for Stoke and is generally a dirty bstd (and not that good, but maybe better than Collins, Gabbidon)

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

He wants to play for England, so it's a non-starter, whether his reasons are because he only wants to play for the country of his birth or because he thinks he's too good for Wales.

His one cap against Sweden showed what a liability he was in an environment where he wasn't just expected to win headers and kick people, so it would be no thanks from me even if he was interested.

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

Think you've completely missed his point.

Genetically, paedophiles have more genes in common with crabs than they do with you and me. Now that is scientific fact. There's no real evidence for it, but it is scientific fact.

Why "faak Turner"?

He could have gone the easy route of getting international football, chose not to due to feeling no link to or reason to play for Wales. Yes, he could have due to the grandparentage situation, but fair play to him for sticking to his view and not taking the easy option.

Brazil could have done with him in the World Cup that's for sure, a bit better than Jo and Fred.

Shawcross did represent Wales at under 15's, but as others have said, he turned us down when it was mentioned a few years ago, when Pulis said he was good enough for England, Tony doesn't seem to think so now.

If you're not born in Wales or don't have a Welsh Parent then it's a no from me. And yeah, that includes any of the current squad members as well.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Tricky one that though mate. I'm torn on this one. What if you moved here at an early age. My FiL moved here when he was 11 and was the biggest Swans and Wales supporter you could meet. Essentially he was as 'welsh' as anyone in his views despite being 'english'.

That's a good point.

If you qualify for Wales and you feel Welsh and hence are prepared to battle for the cause that's good enough for me.

Shawcross qualifies but doesn't feel Welsh so he's sticking with the country of his heart. I don't like the bloke but I respect him for that.

Ash is a great example

Shown far more pride in pulling on a Welsh jersey than the superstar born in Basseyville but brought up in Manchester.
