Basically says that they are willing to let him join us as long as they have a buy back price inserted. Funny how they class that sort of deal as a loan!
Get it sorted Huw, out of all the strikers linked, he's the one that I think will suit us down to the ground. I like Llorente, but I think he may be more of an impact player.
Its quite interesting how this buy back could go, plenty of room for negotiating especially if the player is set on moving to us with only 12 months of his contract left.
If he sits tight for 6 months then he can start negotiating a pre contract on a bosman, so really Athletico dont have much of a bargaining tool unless they lower their fee for the lad. Could be 5-6M fee gets him!
I want this to go through, partly for the team, but more so to see all the arise Sir Huw threads come back to the fore on the site. If we sign Bony, well, it will be the no one ever doubted Huw brigade.
It's amazing how twitchy grown men get during transfer windows nowadays, I think it's the sky sports news added drama effect. I include myself in that group btw
So basically a release clause specific to that club?
No - we wouldn't have to release him if we didn't want to.
It's more like a split of future sell on fees I believe.
Say they put in a clause of £15m, they are guaranteeing that any profit above that goes to them (as if he's worth £30m in the future and we wanted to sell him, we'd only get £15m of it and they would them get the other £15m as they'd buy him for £15m and immediately sell him for £30m, or they'd get a £30m player for £15m if they preferred).
So rather than them getting say 30% of all profit, they get 100% above a certain figure. We would want that figure to be as high as possible as it caps off our profit.
Looks a lovely player but I think llorente would suit us better, if you tube videos are the only reference !
Baston seems a finisher and llorente seems to be better at linking up and bringing others into play.
I'd be happy with either but llorente having a more physical edge and being good at holding the ball would benifit the team better .
Just my take.
Can I be greedy and wish for them both ?
why not have both? 3 strikers out, at least 2 in, right?
Llorente is 31 and probably can't be counted on to start every game. i think you need 2 incoming strikers. and by the sounds of it, both of these players wouldn't break the bank even together.
What if he was injured in the second week of September?
I think we need to bring in 2 forwards (plus replace Ayew if he goes as well).
Ideally I would like 2 but can not see us getting two top quality forwards and prefer not to go down the mediocre back up route we have in the past.Obviously if Ayew does go we will need another.
So what type of valuation do they have on Borja?
