Mind there's a lot in this country that would like to see Brexit be a massive failure, they'd much rather that than be proved wrong by a load of Racist F^ckwits.

Good for them for voting with their consciences and not slavishly supporting the party line. Like Corbyn did hundreds of times before he became leader.

Abstention is as good as voting against on a three line whip. Geraint Davies was on Radio 5 earlier and was adamant he'd be voting against. Whether he did in the end or not I don't know.

Well they were told it was their duty to respect and back the referendum outcome and vote pro Brexit. I've got no problem with their protest vote but losing 20 MPs from the Labour Party is going to be a headache to fill those positions again...all it's achieved is seriously weakening the leadership of Corbin and the Labour party itself...not good.

What about the ones that voted against, when their constituents overwhelmingly voted to Leave, last June? I'm looking at one from Rhondda, specifically..

How will the Labour Party lose 20 MPs as a result of this?

The will of an MP's constituents should override any MP's own conscience, if he feels he can't he/she should resign. They were voted into power to represent the wishes of the people that voted them into parliament, and not their own personal views.

I still believe they have a right, maybe even a duty, to vote according to what they believe is right, whether that accords with their constituents' views or not. Their constituents will have their say on that the next time they stand for election.

I don't agree but I respect your view. I believe an MP should vote the way his conscience dictate and if his constituents don't like those votes and positions they can remove that MP at the next election.

The only duty they have is to listen to the voice of their constituents, and vote accordingly.

They've resigned from various shadow ministerial positions. They're still MPs and they're still Labour MPs.
