You're right, absolutely tragic.

Charlie Gard on 19:00 - Apr 11 with 1222 views | blueytheblue | It's a difficult one for me. On the one hand, you obviously want a child of yours to live as long as possible. On the other hand, when treatment is experimental, hasn't cured someone in such a state as the boy is - and the US doctor did state it was incredibly unlikely it would have any effect, when do you do the humane thing and stop prolonging the agony? I'm seeing something similar with my dad right now, numerous issues after major stroke 20 years ago, suffering from vascular dementia - at the stage of not recognising me far more than he does recognise me. Unable to walk, speech is going. Would I rather he slip away quietly with dignity... yes, yes I would.

The exception to your sad news is that I thoughts this family had a million pounds to continue treatment privately. If that's their wish then no way regardless of what a judge says should this happen. They surely can proceed with the money they have privately ....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the specialist indicated that there was no hope, and the judge probably took that i to consideration, when delivering his verdict,so I'm guessing as hard as it was, the parents had little option, unless I've missed something.Having said that i still think that the parents should have the final say.
