Nicky Wire still looks cool for his age. The fat one starting to resemble Richard Burton though.

I guess we do, however, to see them perform last week in a quite intimate venue was amazing.
They really can perform well live, a lot of bands these days are dross live. | |

One of my favourite bands of all time. It's probably about 15 years too late to be slating them for whizzing on their "teenage rebellion" legacy. That ship probably sailed with Everything Must Go or at the very latest with This is my truth....
They've evolved and I'd say that they've grown old fairly gracefully compared to some of their early 90s peers. They're not exciting any more and having seen them fecking loads of times over the years I've no particular desire to see them again. Haven't bought the new album yet either, but I will.
Although a little piece of me did perish when they turned up Strictly a few years ago. |  |

Yeah, they quite clearly left the early posturing behind with 'Everything Must Go' after Richey went AWOL, not much ambiguity was there, clues in the name like...
Listened to the new album a few times on Spotify. Bit meh on first listen, but it's a very restrained, delicate lot of acoustic tunes (apart from Show me the wonder) so they'll take a while to make an impact. Wire's lyrics seem to jar a bit with the music for me, far more than on any of their other records; the melodies would suit more delicate lyrics IMO. | |
