Immanuel Kant would probably say yes it is wrong to lie - as linked to some sort of underlying morality in the Universe.

Whereas Jeremy Bentham, John Stuart Mill and the Utilitarians would probably say depends if you are maximising happiness for the greatest number of people . (So no underlying morality).
