My Irritation of the day 13:47 - Jun 27 with 1025 views | Highjack | What is the reason behind this current trend of MPs posting their resignation letter on Tw@tter? Something like that should be kept private, unless of course it's deliberately put out there for political gain but then again I'm not that cynical and labour are the good guys so that definitely isn't the case.

My Irritation of the day on 13:58 - Jun 27 with 1009 views | Lohengrin | I think it's pretty evident that Corbyn personally still retains the confidence of the Labour Party at large. What these disembarking rats are doing is attempting to justify their actions. The reason is two-fold: To Labour members and voters in their own constituencies it's a plea that they had plunged the Dagger of Brutus on their behalf; in other words "please don't deselect me, it was done with you in mind." Secondly it's done in the hope that if they come across as enough of a martyr then Socialist Worker members won't push dog shit through their letterboxes or throw paint stripper on their cars.

Do you not think the shadow cabinet are resigning because they can see the writing is on the wall. While many of there people have been angling for Jezzas departure from day one, this coup is about more than personal ambitions.
My Irritation of the day on 14:10 - Jun 27 with 975 views | Highjack | I wonder if they've actually sent the letter or just putting it on social media for likes and retweets like those women who come home to find their child on fire and instead of putting out the blazing inferno they go and fetch a camera to post "OMG I cnt blieve my child is on fire! lolz!"

What makes you say that Corbyn still retains the confidence of the party? From what I can see he seems to have lost it. If a leadership debate does arise it will be interesting viewing. Although I am not a labour supporter I think he needs to go for the sake of a proper opposition to the current government. At the moment they are losing support hand over fist and sooner or later the option will be right(cons) or far right(UKIP). Depending on who takes over at Cons that could be far right or far right. I can see the usual labour supporter opting again for Farage and his cronies which (in my opinion) wont be great!

I'd be more interested in hearing your take on events, Ace. You're an active member of the Labour Party, what's the feeling among your friends and colleagues?

I saw Corbyn in London a month ago. He was the centre of a surging mob of hero worshippers. The faithful were elbowing other Labour MPs out of the way to get a chance to tap him on the back.

And then his resignation speech in Parliament? That was about Europe as well! You just had to wait for the newspaper in them days. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
My Irritation of the day on 14:23 - Jun 27 with 944 views | shenleymun | We are two parties. Have been since last year. The only reason there hasn't been a split is that everyone wants to keep the brand name (unsurprising despite what some people happen to think the brand represents).

I'd say it's pretty split to be honest but the tide is turning very very slowly against Jezza. Some of my diehard leftie friends know the game is up. The problem is because the membership swelled so dramatically last year, we will have a swathe of new voices who are only like in the party to back Jezza loyally. In my humble opinion we should get rid of him now and take the hit with regards to the angry membership. [Post edited 27 Jun 2016 14:36]

My Irritation of the day on 15:27 - Jun 27 with 892 views | exiledclaseboy | It's nothing new, resignation letters have always been routinely made public. Twitter just makes it instant and you don't often see 30 plus in 24 hours. Plus of course they'd be daft not to publish them seeing as the resignations are designed solely to humiliate and force Corbyn out.

I would never vote Labour again if they tuck up Jeremy. Sooner Labour get rid of the blairites the better.

Honestly, then don't. Labour stand to lose a lot more voters by keeping him on. The referendum, local elections in England, Welsh assembly elections and Scottish elections have already been a loud warning shot. Also, Blairites seems to be the buzzword for anyone disagreeing with the Hard Left in the Labour Party. Welsh MPs Nia Griffith and Owen Smith resigned today, and both are pretty far away from the Blairite label.

I've seen lots of labour voters saying the party is not left wing enough. Apparently they're going to vote for UKIP.

Well people are crying out for a proper left wing alternative aren't they. That must be why the core vote have defected to UKIP and the floating voters went Tory in 2015.

Marxism doesn't sit well amongst certain elements of society recently.. especially in the modern era. I think left and right politics have long gone.. it's a self centred world these days.. everyone out for themselves.. No matter what religious path you follow. People are ars*holes.

My Irritation of the day on 16:12 - Jun 27 with 824 views | Lohengrin | Something that has REALLY irritated me today is The Guardian. I've picked up a copy this last few days along with The Telegraph and, God help me, The Morning Star to try and get as round an impression of the fall-out as I can. The Guardian though, Christ almighty! Article after article just dripping with condescension toward those who are refusing to chart the course mapped out for them by those who clearly see themselves as their intellectual superiors. If you have a copy to hand take a look at the full page article by Mike Carter recounting a trip from Liverpool to London, My Journey Through the Wasteland. I'm not sure if the impression is deliberate but it put me in mind of the diary musings of a Victorian explorer sallying down the Congo. It's full of little vignettes about the debased environment of the natives and their quaint, tribal concerns.

Unfortunately, today I spoke to a socialist who has already switched to UKIP. I only found that gem out when we talked about the referendum. Colour me surprised.
