Almost forgot, Mark Baker is my actual postie as well!

I always remember Herbie telling about when he joined Royal Mail in that, as a professional footballer/coach, his wage was £17 a week, and he was on £17.50 as a postie!

I also worked with Herbie - I was a processing postie, only ever worked in the mail centre and would often see Herbie and his side-kick Mike O’Sullivan on the late shift.
Also worked with Frenchie, still see Nigel Dalling now and again and his brother Kevin still works for us.
Mostly the ex pros would end up as delivery posties, like Nigel,Dudley, Gary Richards and Gary Emmanuel, who was working in the Mumbles delivery section for a while.
Top bloke Herbie - happy birthday to him!

Ricky Gervais
at 14:33 7 Jan 2020

Have I missed something here?

Ricky Gervais may not be to everyone's taste, but the cries of hypocrisy are a little wide of the mark.

He has not told anyone not to push agendas or have a political position, as he has numerous ones himself, and it has been pointed out that he uses twitter to further these positions.

What he did was tell the winners not to do it at the Golden Globes, as nobody in the audience would give a flying fig. Get up, say thanks and get off. He often points out that the award shows go on far too long anyway, why prolong the agony by stringing out what is already a painful experience for most, as they do not win?

Nothing hypocritical that I can see.

PPI claim companies - August deadline
at 18:17 1 Jul 2019

I have just used ReclaimPPI.co.uk.

They charge 12%. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up with a healthly 7.4k payment.

£880 to Reclaim and another £900 in tax, left me with £5.7k. Thankyouverymuch.

Try 'em, or have a go yourself.

The Best Live Album
at 11:48 26 Aug 2018

I'll definitely second that, and throw in Dire Straits - Alchemy Live.

2 albums that were constantly played throughout my teenage years. Every time I listen to them, I am transported back to the 80s!

Although not an album, AC/DC Live at River Plate is possibly the best live performance I have ever seen or heard. If you are a fan and have not seen it, it is recommended.

Tribunal question
at 10:51 14 Feb 2018

The fee of £1500 for every case brought to appeal/tribunal in our business has recently been removed, so it doesn't cost anything for the union to lodge an appeal anymore, so there is nothing to lose by our union fighting every case now.

Check with yours to see if it is the same, should be, but I don't know the process outside of my personal experience with the business I am in.

Not renewing season ticket
at 18:26 12 Jan 2018

As above. Not enjoyed the football for nigh on the last 3 years. It is now a chore to me, so much in fact, I haven’t bothered to go to the last two home games and can’t see me going again this season.

I’m with you on this one.

I am also a season ticket holder and I will not attend another home match this season. I cannot being myself to watch any of what’s being offered up by this mediocre team anymore. Utter sh!t.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Loved every second of it. Can’t wait to see it again.

There seems to be an awful lot of hate for this film going around. I think it’s the best one yet. And I saw A New Hope when it was just Star Wars, in the Windsor in Neath 1970’s!

Who walked out early.
at 11:37 15 Dec 2017

I stayed until the final whistle, and then waited 5 mins for the stairs to clear before I left as I always do. Hate being in crowds and all that being squashed in amongst the great unwashed.

Saying that, I am not renewing as I cannot stand putting myself through that turgid spectacle week after week. No £450 for the Americans from me again, although I suppose there will always be someone to take my place....

So someone who has p!ssed $40 million dollars away through sheer stupidity is asking for money?

I think I will start a Go fund me page every time I'm a bit short of cash...

Roll call
at 14:09 4 Dec 2017

I will not be renewing.

Call me plastic, call me fair weather, call me what you want, but I have been going to see the Swans since 1996 as a season ticket holder and I have always been entertained by the football.

I have not had that feeling for 3 years now, and the football on offer is tepid, slow and uninspiring. I can't remember the last time I got out of my seat for a bit of skill, or a great move, or, dare I say it, a goal.

It has now become a chore to go. It is a big chunk of my Saturday/Sunday. I have to leave 1-1 and a half hours before kick off, and it takes me another hour to get home. Frankly, I just don't look forward to it anymore and the sad thing is, I can think of a myriad number of things that I would rather be doing. It saddens me.

Shower as soon as I get up for work.

Nice soak in the bath after dinner, 2 chapters of a book/magazine read, lovely.

Today's crowd should be ashamed
at 12:12 24 Sep 2017

The booing was a direct result of the team being so negative at home against a team that in reality, Clement would have identified as one of the games where we pick up points.

It was also brought on by the constant passing of the ball along the back line, only to have a small foray forward with either Naughton or Olsson for the move to comletely stall 5 yards from the halfway line, and the ball being recycled back to the defence.

Why did Olsson or Naughton not take people on? Why don't any of the midfield have a go at getting past their man with the ball rather than turn their back and recycle through the defence?

I get why we need to keep hold of the ball, but it was exceptionally frustrating after going one down to a team we should be able to go toe to toe with comfortably, p1ssing about with the ball in our defence WAITING for the opposition to make a mistake rather than pressing upfield and FORCING the mistake. Have a go at them for f*cks sake! Force errors rather than patiently waiting for one that may never come.

Car Parking Advice
at 16:01 21 Sep 2017

I sometimes use Lyte Ladders on a Saturday.

It's the old Macro car park to the left of Virgin Media. If coming from town turn left at the mini roundabout opposite the Royal Mail Mail Centre, if coming from Morriston, turn right obviously at same mini roundabout.

£5 to park. Walk across the bridge on the Tawe, 5-10 mins to car park next to Liberty. Job done.

Try not to run over Nev when he comes out of the call centre though.

The biggest problem
at 16:42 13 Sep 2017

I used to have a season ticket in ASBO corner, but after a couple of years of paying £450 for a seat that was never used, I enquired and got a move close to the centre of the East stand.

Now I can sit down for the entire game with a nice Bovril and a blanket over my legs. Lovely.

Feck standing for a game of soldiers.
