Threads like this really show Swansea fans up for being bitter little c**ts. Personally I don’t think the media plays up England like they used to and if any of you isolated idiots had the chance to actually talk to England fans you’d realise most are very critical of the side. I’m assuming you all still live in Wales so dont get the chance to do that.
It still amazes me how bitter and xenophobic/racist/prejudiced (for want of a better expression) some of you can be to an entire country especially when the club you support has always relied on English managers and players in a league that is for all intents and purposes, England’s league.
Smacks terribly of bitterness/an inferiority complex. If you hate England so much why do you put yourself through it? |

This. As the Russians have gone on record saying, they targeted English fans in Marseille as they wanted to prove themselves against (in their eyes) the godfathers of hooliganism. Apparently, back in the day Russian fans would wear scarves of English clubs who had the biggest firms etc. they are like fans of hooliganism itself. Marseille was (mostly) a case of a mob of organised Russian thugs brutally picking off scarfers and putting some in comas. Hooliganism in Russia is peaking, in England it is dying. It’s not a case of England fans mobbing up like in the eighties etc. The police clamped down on them after the trouble when Germany hosted it.
Welsh and Russian fans didn’t have the same trouble as Russian hooligans simply don’t care about Wales from a hooligan point of view so most Welsh fans probably got to talk to normal Russian fans.
I support England and was at Marseille. After getting away from the carnage I met one Russian fan who was sound - neither of us were interested in the violence.
People on here seem to love a sweeping generalisation. |

Based on their ultras against England and the fact videos of them scrapping in fields like that is nothing new I'd expect they will be steaming into any and every country, you'd have to be a fool or rather brave to go in my opinion |

I agree with the sentiment in this thread and Wales' performance is a shining and logical example of it. 9 of the 23 are English and everybody apart from two of them play in the English system. Therefore the argument that England are suffering nationally due to the premier league being dominated by foreign owners, managers and players is rubbish. Wales, with English or English based players have shown that success nationally is due to effective coaching, continuity and a team spirit. |

The support for Wales in England whether it be the BBC pundits, twitter or the average English fan on the streets has been abundant and it's great to see. Mind you, divisive and even hateful people like trampie will choose to ignore it. |

Speaking as an England supporter who was at Marseille the trouble is that the Russian ultras were picking off groups of 2-10 of English supporters on their way back from the port once they had been pushed back, even the disgusting GoPro footage one recorded whilst kicking off shows that. These Ultras care not for the supposed unwritten rule of the hooligans whereby they go for only firms, they will batter anybody in their way they perceive as the enemy even if that is a normal fan. There was even footage of one of the Russian C**s kicking an English woman twice from behind when walking away from the ground whilst his lowlife mates filmed it and laughed.
My advice to Welsh fans in Lille would be to stay in as big a group as you can i.e. with your mates or latch onto another group and stay on the fringes away from any main squares. |

Don't know how anyone can say anything other than the Oxford game. It was embarrassing going there and playing a fairly strong squad which lost against a division 4 side and hearing their fans chant 'you're going down with the Villa'. After that game was when I really started to worry |
