At 31 still got another contract at EPL for me, might come back after that if a coaching option was included - now if we were going up different story.
Clubs are allowed to add back money spent on both Youth & Women’s football plus any non-cash stuff like depreciation/amortisation before the P&S calculation is done.
Good points UJ & agree I thought that 94th minute header was going in too - personally I think our current back 4 plus Wood with Rushworth behind them is a decent base but way too many times this season they seem to get lulled into a passive approach where they generally adopt the right positional structure but almost seem to hesitate in putting challenges in & see what the opposition attack can do.
Not sure if that is a coaching thing or a concentration thing but if the aspiration is to become a top 6/8 team then that has to improve.
For me if sides sit against us so we can relatively easily retain possession we lose any drive/passion in our play & are content passing it around in front of the opposition’s final third trying for either the perfect pass into our weak strikers or a random cross.
That malaise spreads across all 10 outfield players & we become way too passive all over the pitch which leads to very few challenges being made & easy for the opposition to create chances - quite regularly we have 60 - 70% possession but have less attempts on goal/target than our opponents a recipe for losing more games than you win.
We probably need at least 5/6 first team regulars if we are up for changing that for next season.
Fair point WR could be I read it wrong - we are a tad one dimensional on attacking corners/free kicks with Pato trying to deliver a cross to around the space between the penalty spot & six-yard line. His delivery is not bad but for me only Darling* can win & then control/direct a header and with him currently injured we need to be more imaginative - do we even have a specialist corner/free kick coach?
* Cabango & less regularly Wood/Humphries do win attacking headers but really struggle controlling where the ball will go - tbf to Cabango he peeled off to the back post on one of our set pieces yesterday in the second half & won/controlled a header back across the goal but no one from our side could turn it in.
If we play like we did yesterday & switch out - when fit of course - Key in for Nauts, Placheta for Cooper & Allen for Fulton we should be able to pick up the 15/16 points needed.
That said the next few games are tough so need a little luck or bounce of the ball going our way - Williams has not had much drop his way yet.
The set- up for defending corners yesterday seemed to be Nauts (front post), Cabango (free man to attack the ball if delivered around the centre of the box, Ronald left up field which leaves 7 other out field players to mark the Plymouth ones - they kept two back to cover Ronald plus the corner taker gives them 7 other players in/around the box for us to cover.
Only way you can have a back post man is if you pull Ronald back but that then means they can push another player into the box.
