Hi-Fi Buffs
at 19:27 1 Jun 2024

Not sure about Pink Triangle but the current Xerxes is getting on for £7k all in.

Like most luxury goods, HiFi has been veblenised to give the super rich something to spend their money on.

I've only seen a cyclist on the Westway once and had to do a double take, that really is a suicide mission. I wouldn't ride my bike on the Edgware Rd flyover and I think that is allowed.

It's harder to start culture wars and get people all frothed up against cows and lightning though.

He just doesn't come across as very bright. I was thinking he's turning into this generation's Bryan Robson but looking at Robson's record, he actually did OK at Middlesbrough, it was only after that he faded into repeated failure. Rooney's way behind!

Some people are just tw@ts and they're tw@ts whatever they're doing. I've been riding a bike around London since the early 80s and generally it's safer now than it ever has been, the 20mph zones have stopped people roaring around at 40+ and there's more awareness of other road users than there used to be.

Some of the electric bike and scooter users do seem to be on suicide missions though, it's a daily spectacle seeing Lime bike riders bombing through red lights while on the phone.

It is and it isn't. It can be changed in any budget.

We never got Brexit? That's just silly. We got a far more extreme Brexit than anyone on the leave campaign could possibly have hoped (at the time no one was seriously suggesting we'd even leave the customs union). The people who really backed it - the super rich, oligarchs and funny money tax exiles etc - did get exactly what they wanted though, which was to get Crown dependency tax havens out of the scrutiny of the EU. All the other stuff was just window dressing.

It was when I saw Gnonto having a laugh and a joke with one of our players at 3-0 down I realised the game was in the bag. You wouldn't have been able to find the fcks he gave with an electron microscope.

Usually when a team is totally outplayed they'll concede a goal or two. If you don't score, you can't be outplaying the opposition

Non elected, non accountable people are setting the agenda. It's what the dark money funded 'think thanks' (aka political lobbying organisations) at 55 Tufton St are all about.

Dumb move from the mate too, as he'll be let go in November along with Rooney.

These Manager Appointments are Mad

The 'at least two' I was thinking of were Begovic and Cook, but Colback has extensive PL experience too.

The point really is that despite the hyperbolic narrative, we weren't Rotherham, we had a squad with some decent players and Cifuentes moved us up a grand total of five places. That's not in any way comparable with McKenna's back to back promotions.

No one wants to be 2024's Michael Portillo.

I’m very much a Marti fan, but there is an excess of exuberance in our fanbase about his achievements. How it looks from the outside may be rather different: in over two thirds of a season he moved QPR up five places and he did it with at least two Prem experienced players, one of the division’s best midfielders and an international striker.

We should have a special thread for discussing the signing of ex QPR players. Then everyone posting on it can be taken out and shot.
