| Forum Thread | Don’t let your backside hit the door on your way out Russell Martin. at 22:19 23 Apr 2024
I posted on April 2 after the Ipswich defeat that Sports Republic should roll the dice and sack him with Steve Cooper as his replacement. Had they done so we would still be in the automatic promotion race. They didn’t, and it’s now plain to see that the players have given up on him and his ridiculous, ineffective, tippy tappy possession based nonsense. Even if by some absolute fluke we win the playoffs I don’t want him to remain in charge. With his style of play, no plan B and ludicrous use of substitutes we would end up with less points than Derby when they last played in The Premiership. |
| Forum Thread | Utterly pathetic management as automatic promotion thrown away. at 17:29 20 Apr 2024
Despite 62% possession whilst playing tippy tappy, sideways and backwards football we managed to lose today to a Cardiff team decimated by injuries, without their two best strikers and fielding a bunch of school kids. Once again our idiot manager couldn’t get his players to defend a lead and made reactive rather than proactive substitutions. He’s done the same all season long and has learned nothing. When are the owners going to realise that Russell Martin is part of the problem rather than the solution? Having said that I don’t hold out much hope given that for their part this week they have managed to upset a large proportion of season ticket holders with a ridiculous plan to install safe standing next season. |
| Forum Thread | ROLL THE DICE SPORTS REPUBLIC, SACK MARTIN AND HIRE STEVE COOPER NOW. at 08:07 2 Apr 2024
With Russell Martin in charge our last eight games have resulted in us dropping fourteen points from twenty four available, proving that at the business end of the season he failed to obtain automatic promotion for us. With his tippy tappy style of play, no plan B, constant tinkering with team selection and ridiculous use of substitutes it’s now obvious to every man and his dog that he will not succeed in getting us back to the Premiership through the Playoffs either. There are eight games remaining in nearly a month and plenty of matches and time to hire someone who has a proven track record of successfully negotiating the Playoffs. Someone who will install a different method of play altogether and reinstate some discipline and belief in the players. Jason Willcox has departed and now is the time for Russell Martin to go also. With a late season fresh start and given the quality of our squad we can be playing Premiership football in August if decisive action is taken now. |
