Borja Baston Bench?
Swansea City record signing Borja Baston is unlikely to be ready to start against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. The the £15m Spanish striker has yet to make his debut for the club because of a thigh injury and manager Francesco Guidolin says the 23-year-old is still getting up to speed."Borja has to go slow for two, three days," Italian Guidolin said. "He's not injured, but he has to go slow.
Guidolin added: "I hope to have him available for the bench for Sunday, but I'm not sure at the moment." The Swans boss also suggested 22-year-old defender Alfie Mawson is close to making his first-team bow after joining from Barnsley. "He is a young player, but I like him and I think he is almost ready to play in the Premier League," said Guidolin "I think he will be a good surprise for our fans, for our club."

New Chelsea signings David Luiz and Marcos Alonso are unlikely to start against Swansea, according to head coach Antonio Conte. Kurt Zouma is not yet ready to return from a knee injury. Swansea's record signing Borja Baston could feature for the first time after overcoming a thigh injury. Swansea have lost both games since their opening-day win at Burnley and they barely had a sniff against Leicester. Things will not be any easier for them against Chelsea. The Blues have won three out of three so far and I don't see that sequence stopping against the Swans. Prediction: 0-2

This type of match is a bonus anyway so pressure is off somewhat. We all know that on our day we can beat anyone. The defence is still the great unknown so the rusk for me is silly mistakes. On the other hand out wingers could get more space as Chelsea will come at us unlike the three matches we have had so far. It is going to be tough but we could easily surprise a few. Performance and keeping the score respectable is very important for me. |  |

when are people going to start getting off Fer's back? We're three games into a season after a lengthy Summer break. He's probably not at peak fitness, and to put in average performances and still get goals (that won us a game) isn't exactly the end of the World. I'm a bit annoyed coming on here and seeing constant Fer bashing waiting for him to have a bad performance. I think he put in some good performances at the back end of last season, that contributed to our spirt up the table. Give the lad some time. He will put in some average performances over the course of a season and i expect that. Looking at our stats we're creating chances, but not converting them. Stop making Fer the scape goat, the performances will come, I'm sure of it. Time to start supporting the players instead of asking why we didn't sign Joe Allen and start supporting what we've got.
We beat Chelsea last year, and I think we would be able to do it again should the team start clicking into gear. I'm looking forward to seeing Baston play (hopefully) and with David Luiz in their defence anything is possible.

However, he does his job in midfield poorly and his current goal scoring run is blinding many to that.
Just like when we were collecting the odd win under Garry Monk's initial reign, it blinded people to the obvious failings that were occurring at the time.

I'll be the first to admit that Fer is no De Guzman but he's also done nothing but try his best, score goals and thank the Swansea fans for support. For me that is a BIG step up on Shelvey and to be quite frank if one of those 'stray' goals wins us a match (as it did at Burnley) then zero people should complain.

Fer obviously has an eye for goal which is more than can be said for many of other past midfielders.

When will you people realise that just because a few of us criticise the team's performance and the club's decisions, it does not mean we don't support the team? As long as we shout them on at the Liberty and afterwards the criticism is constructive, I see no issue.
We lost out on a number of targets this summer which resulted in a sh!t transfer window. We have also had three unconvincing performances (in my opinion) in our first three games, and fans have every right to raise questions and criticisms about such performances.

And why is that? Because I fear we will be relying heavily on him for goals this season. Yes, we could win on Sunday, and I hope to god we do, but I do not believe this squad (without Baston) can get us a Top 10 finish, which is what we should be aiming for.
