Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread 15:02 - Oct 24 with 91447 viewskingsburyR

(Delete if someone has already started one)

First away game of the season for me, the wife and my youngest daughter.

I haven't travelled to see a loss.

Mighty R's to win 3-1

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Frey and Burrell today .
Just think Kone looked tired on Wednesday.
Not advocating it but just think we might see it soon.
Not seen Frey and Burrell together yet . Frey certainly has more experience and nous over Kone so you never know .

Won’t be often either just might appear during 3 game weeks

Three changes, Kone starts.

RND
Varane
Vale

Strong bench. No Kolli.

Hopefully Vale can feed Kone. Kone is due a few goals.

Never knowingly right.

I would personally have picked Hayden above Varane, but otherwise I think this is pretty much the strongest line-up we can field at the moment. I like it.

Early 3-0 lead, then we can start to give minutes to some fringe players.

More balanced with RND back in at LB. Thankfully JS appears to have realised that pace isn't necessarily a bad thing with Mbengue and Burrell both starting again.

Bench looks strong.

Madsen must be top of the fitness charts as well as he plays every game. Or could it be we don't have someone who can replace him so he can have a rest?
Makes a bit of a mockery of the idea players can't play a three game week.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Wasn’t a correction, Mart ! Just an update as the team news came through shortly after.

I expect we will see Frey for Kone in the second half. Don’t mind that / just not together please.

Madsen - You should not be looking to rest one of your best players, 3 games a week or not.

RND - Good change.

JS - I am sure he knows pace is very important and that he made errors last Saturday leaving both players on the bench.

Smyth - I presume he has a slight knock, hence a sub. Big call playing Vale in Smyth absence.

Bench - Strong.

That - plus the international travel too.

They can always change it up if necessary with the subs but we need to start games well, rather than have to receive them.

Good selections, overall.

Pretty much our first team that isn't it? Only change I'd have made is Hayden over Varane, would like to see him get a start, see how he fares. Varane has looked a bit suspect of late.

Varane is a very good player and perhaps as Hayden hasn't played a lot of football before coming here this season they are managing his minutes but I must say that so far Hayden and Madsen have looked really solid in the midfield. I have faith in Varane. We know he is a good player.

BBC currently have Madsen at LB and RND in midfield with Varane. That’ll confuse ‘em!

There's definitely a player with potential in there, but against Millwall he looked like he'd never passed a ball. When he's on it and composed he looks like he has the potential to be the sort of player to really dominate a game. Not quite there yet, but hopefully it will come. But when he's not on it as recently he's a bit of a passenger imo

Personally wouldn't have Kolli anywhere near the squad - His father is up to his old tricks again and trying to push the narrative. Sorry to say, let him go in January

Think this is a good line up. Think Cook and Mbengue work well.

And Madsen is currently number 1 on the team sheet for me - I would have been carted off and sectioned 6 months ago if I said that

For me, Varane is in very poor form.

However, form is temporary, class is permanent and he'll be back. Be good if its today
